    Default Confession...

Hey everyone, I haven't logged in for a while, and I don't know whether it is out of a general laziness or just plain shame. Since confession is supposed to be good for the soul, I must admit...

For the last month or so, I have been using a cartridge razor.

I had run out of Swedish Gillettes, and I refuse to use the stateside personas. So, I went looking for fusion refills. Needless to say, the price made me choke, until I saw a disposable power razor from, of all people, Old Spice. (I know!)

This thing came with 3 cartridges and the handle for just $5.99, so I said to myself "Self, this'll do in a pinch".

Well, 2 passes and touch-up gave me a BBS shave, I kid you not. No burn, no irritation. Even the places that the DE can't quite get, this little thing did. I have only used my alum block once since then. I now fully believe that the proper prep and product makes all the difference. I never had those things before I started wetshaving.

Now, I'll never completely give up my DE shaves, but I don't detest a multi-blade like I did 5 weeks ago.

Anyway, there it is, I said it. Don't hate me.

I can't comment on the specific razor you cite, but the Trac II and BIC Metal are marvelous shavers that are about as effective as a DE for me.

$6 for three blades it still too steep though.

If you've found what works for you, that's what's important. Not what hardware you use.

DE, straight, cartridge, whatever. The point is to find what works for you and your skin. Sounds like you've found the right combination. Great job!

    Smile What works for you.

You are lucky that a cartridge razor works for you. I never had any luck with them. Right now I am mostly using str8s and I don't plan on going back to cartridges.

When I was still trying to get the hang of my 38C, I pulled my Fusion out to make a pass on my chin because I just couldn't get it shaved good. Yikes ! It was seriously BBS and seriously red the rest of that day, and the next morning also. Alas, some of us can never go home....

"Cast not out he who still shaves with a brush, and water, and supple lather. For although his technique may differ from your own his heart has still found the joy of wet shaving. Offer thine sink and faucet to thy brother and join one another in the joy that is wet shaving."

Yeah, I completely made that up. I'm going back to work now.

We should write the gospel according to B&B. Dibs on "The Book of Chip".

Yea though I walk through the valley of shaving, I will fear no blade: for Gillette art with me; thy blade and thy razor they shave me.

It would make the Best. Wiki. Article.

Get all of you top members to contribute a book, describing the shaves of the prophets, and your trials in the desert (of dry shaves).

You know what would be awesome? If Moses (the moderator) parted the waters of the red sink.

While some gentleman may scold you for flirting with the "enemy" aka, The Multiblade catridge system. I believe it is more along the lines of an analogy...

Some people like Apples (multiblade) and some people like oranges (DE), while both can be eaten in a healthy diet (wetshaving), at the end of the day you are still getting your daily dose of vitamins (BBS).

As for me, I detest the "apples" I speak of, but alas if it works for you. Then by all means, continue with it!

    Happy Shaving!

    Interesting thought.

Gotta say, though, I do suggest keeping your sink NOT RED while shaving. Ouch....

When gents were in Cartridge Land,
    Let my people go,
Oppressed so hard they could not shave,
    Let my people go.

    Chorus
    Go down, Moses,
    Way down in Cartridge Land.
    Tell ol' Gillette,
    Let my people go.

Thus saith the DE, bold Moses said,
    Let my people go,
If not, I'll smite your multi-blade dead,
    Let my people go.

    Chorus

No more shall they with scraping shave,
    Let my people go,
Let them come out with BBS shave,
    Let my people go.

    Chorus

The DE told Moses what to do,
    Let my people go,
To lead the shaving fellows through,
    Let my people go.

    Chorus

O come along Moses, you'll not get lost,
    Let my people go,
Stretch out your #16 and shave across,
    Let my people go.

    Chorus

As gents stood by the hairy face,
    Let my people go,
At DE's command stubble did divide,
    Let my people go.

    Chorus

When they reached the BBS shave,
    Let my people go,
They sang a song of triumph o'er,
    Let my people go.

    Chorus

    Gillette said he'd go across,
    Let my people go,
But Gillette and his cartridge were lost,
    Let my people go.

    Chorus

Wetshavers shall stand up like a wall,
    Let my people go,
And the cartridges of hell shall fall,
    Let my people go.

    Chorus

Irritation shall not before you stand,
    Let my people go,
And you'll possess fair smooth shaves,
    Let my people go.

    Chorus

O let us all from bondage flee,
    Let my people go,
And let us all in DE be free,
    Let my people go.

    Chorus

We need not always scrape and burn,
    Let my people go,
And wear these cartridge chains forlorn,
    Let my people go.

    Chorus
    Go down, Moses,
    Way down in Cartridge Land.
    Tell ol' Gillette,
    Let my people go.

(I'm not going to quote that entire song for size reasons)
    Very nice.

And yeah, red sink, not a good plan... but I couldn't think of any other way to make up a good story for you.
