What's new

Hello from Northern Virginia

Greetings

I've been interested in getting into wet shaving for a while. Now that my occupational requirements have calmed down I can now devote more time to personal interests. I haven't invested in my first straight razor or setup yet. Wanted to get some experienced opinions on good beginner blades and such before I took a step into the dark. I'm interested in all the info I an get. First of all, where should I begin?

Hi Ausmcw, welcome to BB, I am also a new recruit, you will find a massive amount of useful information on this site.

I would recommend the Edwin Jagger DE89L razor for starters , there is this link in the Clinic and Newbie Check in http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showth...TRUCTIONS-AND-TUTORIALS-New-READ-THIS-THREAD!

But fair to say you need:

Good razor
Blades - loads to choose from - heres a guide http://www.shaving101.com/index.php/education/double-edge-shaving/48-choosing-the-right-blade.html
Pre shave - Prosaro Pre shave cream
Soap / Cream
Brush, Boar , Badger or synthetic
Alum block
Post Shave Balm
Know your beard and how it grows

and patience to begin with

Hi ausmcw, welcome to B&B!

Congratulations on your decision to see what traditional wet-shaving is all about. It's a decision you will never regret!

When you get a chance please head over to our Hall of Fame (located within the Shave Clinic) and tell us all a bit more about yourself.

There are links in my signature to areas of B&B of special interest to beginning shavers--perhaps you might like to have a look at them for some starting guidance. If you ever have questions or run into problems, don't hesitate to post them up. We're a welcoming and friendly group here, and there's always someone around to offer advice or lend a hand.

Enjoy your time here, happy shaving, and once again, WELCOME!!
