Default First shave with a Rocket

Last week I found an English flare tipped Rocked at the market place. The guy also had the double ring Rocked but I only bought the flared tip Rocked by analyzing the scientific data of flipping the coin.

Today after I cleaned it and disinfected I shaved with it. WOW!

Over the last month I shave with my Progress dialed at 2.5 or with my #11C. Always the shave was something like a surgery. Required much attention and had a lot of blood.

Not so today. I used proraso soap and US personas. A combination guaranteed to give me a lot of dragging and pain. After the first pass I got really impatient and went very "M3 style" XTG on my face. No blood. The third pass was a cruel ATG. The result was 2 nicks left and right of my mouth and 1 nick under my chin. 5 or 6 less than the other times. As an added bonus I had no razor burn in my neck. The shave is not exactly BBS but it is a very good shave

The restoration of the razor was not even close to the photos I have seen here but heck, the razor works, and works very well.

I think I have found my hurry up razor. Or maybe my love razor. Who knows. I still like very much the Progress and I want to learn to use it as easy as my Rocket but for now I found my M3 replacement

Congratulations on the FT Rocket! They are really smooth shavers and I like to rest my ring finger in the recess in the handle, it feels right.

I'm hereby declaring February Rocket month. I will shave with nothing but Rockets and my lone Parat all month. Join me?

Rocket month. What a great idea. Of the Rockets, my favorite is the heavy flat base plate variant, also known as the Junior Aristocrat.

Rocket month it is . I have some useless brushless Volhair (or something like that) cream to spend so this is a great opportunity.

Sounds good to me! I'll be shaving with any "made in england" gillette for February.

Nice!! Is the gold worn as much as it appears in the auction? That is the first gold flare tip Rocket that I've seen. Post some pictures if possible.

There is some Gold loss on the Rocket's TTO doors, handle and on the flare tip. Even with the gold loss the razor is beautifuly shiny. I hope to restore the gold plating with a gold plating kit. The chemicals only last for three months so I want to prepare several gold razors for replating at the same time as it will be more cost effective. Restored this could be one fine looking razor.

The gold British Gillette's seem to be poorly plated. I got a gold 40's rocket yesterday and have another on the way and the plating is just plain bad on them, thin, flaking, peeling and mostly missing.

Let us know how the plating goes? Do you need razors to plate to make it feasible for you? I'd be happy to chip in.

The Gold British Rocket is the only real quality gold Gillette I have aquired at this time. I have two other gold Gillettes but only one of them needs some replating. I will wait till I have collected more gold Gillettes before trying to restore the gold plating. I have only just started collecting.
