Have yet to read of a member buying a $4 razor, cheap synthetic brush with soap and stopping at that! How cheap are you going?
It's a lot to spend on something that will require you to learn a lot of new skills. I have to agree with earlier comments that to learn your skills, something lower priced might be a better option. You could still pick up a better razor later if and when you decide that straight shaving is definitely for you.
