Custom made razor handle thread

Hi, I would like to try to make my own DE razor handles to fit different DE razor heads.
I know that most of DE razor heads thread is M5X0.8, but what is the standart thread length?

Like Mick said above, there is no "standard". DE heads/handles come mostly in 10-32 or M5x0.8 (there are a few "odd" sizes out there, but most are either 10-32 or M5x0.8). Since the M5 is slightly larger, it works well with heads threaded on the smaller diameter of 10-32 threads.

Here are some well known makers of aftermarket DE handles:

and Bob, rest in peace:

Lastly, please look in this forum, in the "Hobbyist/Vendor Classifieds" as several vendors also offer aftermarket DE handles:

I recently was loaned a Fatip to try figure out what thread is using:

The Gillette is of course 32 TPI, but the Fatip came really close to being 34 TPI:

I also measured the head (male) threads on (from left to right) the Gillette, EJ89, and Fatip:

After spending lots of time with Google, I found that a metric thread of 0.75 was equivalent to 33.87 TPI (I measured 34 on my thread tool), and the max OD for an M4.5 metric thread was 0.176", so the 0.174" I measured on the Fatip male thread would be a perfect match, as it is just under the max. Putting these things together (OD with TPI from my measurements), this Fatip has a metric thread that is closest to M4.5x0.75, which although not "common", it is a standard metric thread:

This Fatip thread calls for a drill size of 3.7mm, but I would personally use at least a 3.8mm in Al/Copper (softer metals) and a slightly larger for Ti. Note that once a handle is made by this Fatip thread, a 10-32 heat (Gillette) or M5x0.8 head (EJ89) would most certainly "not" fit, as the Fatip thread is noticeable smaller (OD wise). Maybe this is old news, so my apologies for that if that is the case - just sharing this in case it could be helpful to others.

Yes, that is an awesome thread about what fits and what does not, but I was not able to find information as to what threading tap to use for the Fatip Grande I had on loan. It would be great if somebody else can confirm that the M4.5x0.75 will work for the Fatip Grande.
