Default Back engineerring Or Backward step?

I've been a modern multi blade user. Just got my first DE which I'm going to try for the first time this weekend.

Of course I've been digesting the wealth of information on this wonderful site.

Anyway, I saw the re-occurring comment (in DE context) about not applying pressure when shaving, the converse of that being (In multi blade context) you can/do apply pressure, am I understanding this correctly.?

Anyway, it seems I have always used my multi-blades like a DE, I've always used just the weight of the razor, held it near the end and never pushed down.
Just thought that was the way until I found this site and read about DE's.

So I shaved again with the multi and used quite a lot of pressure (relatively speaking) and the quality of my shave improved markedly.

I'm still going to move to DE and hopefully STR8 a bit later on but it was still an interesting thing in how advice for old actually helped me with the new.

I did the same as you. No pressure at all while shaving w/ plastic razors and caned goo. As soon as my DE and soap came in I gave the new generation stuff to my kids. ( tried to get them into the DE world but they like the quick routine ).
