Buying from e-bay

I have seen a couple of DE razors that i am thinking of bidding for on ebay. As the razor is in the US and I live in the UK will i have to pay any sort of import tax? i think i have read about this on the site somewhere but cannot find it.

try ebay.uk. no taxes there.

for us located items ask the seller or, contact HM Customs

I do not believe you will need to pay an import tax.

Customs have an upper limit after which you have to pay tax an the full value. I think the limit is £30 but I'm not sure if I'm remembering that right so you should check.

Not coming this way as far as I know....at least I've never had to.

The UK Customs limit is to a value of £18 (a bit more for a gift) which include the shipping I think! Evil bar stewards they are.

Chances are it will slip in under the radar though. I've only been caught twice. The worst thing when you do get caught is the Royal Mail/ParceFarce charge you an extra fee of £8 to collect the duty, which in my case was about £1! Also they wouldn't deliver it and I had to go to the sorting office to pay their fee before they would give it to me!

The UK governent and Revenuers really don't want you to buy things on the net!

You can buy from the EC without the extra fees/duties of course, unless it's alcohol or tobacco.

Thanks Gareth for clearing that up. It seems that most DE's on ebay are from the US! Ohh well if i find what i'm looking for i guess i'll just take the plunge.
