A few months ago my fiancee broguht me to the Hall for my birthday and not only THAT but we were there for the latest induction ceremonies. We got to see Michael Irvin, Thurman Thomas, Gene Hickerson, Bruce Mathews, Charlie Sanders and Roger Wehrli.
Michael Irvin and Charlie Sanders gave two GREAT speeches and the entireety of the induction was quite impressive. No matter how great these gentleman were playing pro football you could plainly see that all of them were truly humbled to be entering the Hall of Fame.
Visiting the Hall was something I had been wanting to do pretty much from the time I learned it existed. I've always loved football, from rooting against Notre Dame as a kid to becoming a Michigan fan just for that reason right on through accepting my destiny, as the son of my father and grandson of my grandfather to be a Patriots fan. The first FULL football season I can remember is 1985 and Super Bowl XX which, after seeing the bandwagon riders leap off looking for Bears gear cemented my fandom forever.
Anyway, the Hall was a great place. Possibly the single greatest orange juicer to ever exist. I had a blast walking the halls, visiting the different rooms and checking the displays.
Seems like I could've spent the entire day just in that first section devoted to the beginnings of the game. Canton Bulldogs and the like. Shirts stuffed with cotton and feathers to make the first pads, leather ear muffs as the first helmets... all pretty wild.
Enough rambling... follow the below link to my photos.
On the pics of the busts, if you enlarge the photo you should be able to reafd the nameplates.
I'm no professional phtographer but I did my best!
