    Default From Lurker To Poster

I've been reading these boards for a while but never really posted. A lot of that was caused by this feeling of almost eavesdropping because I wasn't using a DE or Straight razor. I had a brush and some decent shaving soap but nothing really spectacular...the brush wasn't even badger hair.

This, however christmas everything changed. I opened one gift to find a very nice Merkur Progress, a badger hair brush and a tub of AoS unscented cream. At first I found the adjustable part of the razor a bit intimidating but so far the changes have all been for the best and I actually enjoy my morning shave now.

Welcome! I think you'll grow to love your Progress after you get used to its "quirks." Don't dial it up for more than a half-turn for the first couple of months and you'll be fine.

Indeed, Christmas was quite profitable for me this year.

But it's been about a week of shaving with the Progress and so far I love it. My first shave was at a 5....My subsequent shaves have been at about a 3 until I get used to this kind of shaving and a bit better at controling the razor. The unexpected fun thing about this is that some of my friends are now becoming interested in it after having seen my razor and are now lurking around here.

Wait unitl you hit the scented soaps! And the plethora of AS, ASBs and colognes. It is olfactory overload...but in a good way.
