Default What scents do you "put up with".......

.....because the creams are just so gosh darn good? I'm talking about aromas that leave you underwhelmed or uninspired, from creams that are so good you can't imagine your rotation without them. For me, some would be-

    D. R. Harris Arlington- Scent is eh, but what a great shave.

Coates Lime- Yawn, but a top flight lather.

Taylor Avocado- How many of you lay awake at night thinking, "I can't wait 'til morning to stick my honker in a tub of avocado"? Not me. One of the best shaves going.

Coates Tea Tree- Just what the hell am I smelling, anyway? Good stuff, though.

Trumper Coconut Oil- The best Trumper I've tried, by a wide margin, but the scent is marginal. Still, it's better than I thought it would be, since I pretty much can't stand coconut.

Art of Shaving Sandalwood- Very nice lather, but every time I use it I'm reminded of how much better their lavender and lime creams smell.

    D. R. Harris Almond- Okay, I cheated. I actually gave this one away, but I still miss its incredibly dense, rich lather.

So who's going to add to the list?
Chief Weasel and Director of the B&B Stjynnkii Membörd Dummpsjterd.

    Baby Brain Smooth.

Most definately my top choice is the Taylor's avocado. Best shaves bar none, scent is nothing special though.

I concur verbatim on Trumper Coconut.

Proraso and Musgo Real. I use one or the other every other week or so jsut becuase I think I should branch out from the English creams. Proraso is particualry nice the day after I've gotten a little sun. Scent is nothing to write home about though

None. If I don't enjoy the fragrance, I don't use it. Too many excellent choices available to use a product I don't enjoy.
    Take care,

Ditto. I have, however, been known to use an average performing product if the scent is really good.

well, Balea doesn't smell really great, neither does Proraso for that matter, but they both give great shaves.

I concur with Rik & Kyle..If the honker doesn't agree with it, I don't use it. Plain & simple. Why? Because to me, the aroma is a major key in the enjoyment factor of the shave.

Oh, another brand which has a scent I don't really get off on is Vicco Turmeric. But, the lather and shave are very, very good.

So far I've only encountered one cream/soap that I didn't like the scent of; C&E Nomad. I gave it to my brother who in return gave me a tub of Taylors Avocado, a cream which has a strange scent, but I find it very pleasant.

I almost added C&E Nomad to my list also. I can't decide really whether I like it or not. In the end it stays in the rotation simply becuase it is so different from anything else.

    Default Different is Good

Now you have me wanting to try the Nomad--I'm a big fan of stuff that is, for lack of a better word, different. The Taylors avocado is a good example--it sure doesn't smell like avocado! But its interesting--I'm not very good at describing scents, but to me it smells grassy and fresh--not attributes I would have thought I'd enjoy in a shave cream!

I'd love anyones' recommendations on other "different" scents in shave creams.

Maybe I like weird stuff too, but Avocado is a favorite, and I really like Nomad as well.

I don't use stuff in which I don't care for the smell. The only exception may be Proraso because I love the cooling effect and change in pace.

I guess it is, for me anyway, Trumpers Violet....it kinda smells like, well, a sweet form of vomit! I'll use it, but probably won't ever reorder it.

This is precisely the kind of response I was looking for, as my experience is the exact opposite. I love the scent of Trumper's violet, but I'm less than thrilled with the shave.

For me, the shave is very good. I just don't care for the scent.
It goes to show that we're all different. I love most all my creams and I feel 99% of them do a real fine job. But it's tough to really, really like this one.
