Jason:basically each time the razor is removed from your face to rinse or whatnot is a stroke
when your whole face has been completely shaved is a pass
So you could indefinitely do strokes? Are we talking 2 or 3 strokes or 7 or 8 or it doesn't matter. For an area during a pass.

But back on subject. In my opinion a pass may involve multiple strokes or buffing in areas on the face without need for a full relathering. Though I would advise a little finger application of excess lather from another area or a little dab of the brush to avoid irritating an area where needed.
Once you fully relather you are on to the next pass.

When I do a pass, I don't go over it more than once.
I read it once and considered it a pass. If I read it again I would have said I was buffing.
