DE razors in Dubai

Hi all

I've just taken a fascination towards DE shaving and have been reading up a lot on this subjects besides watching videos. I'm kinda tired of using the cartridge based razors and am willing to take the leap. Being based in Dubai, I think finding DE razors are a rarity! I have been to several stores around the town but no cigar!

Any readers here based in Dubai? If so, where did you guys buy your DE's from? I'd like to get the Feather popular to start off and then slowly move into advanced tools made by either Feather or Merkur. I did read a member here who posted that he had picked up a Feather Popular in Dubai. I was just wondering where to get these? Buying these online would mean paying a lot of money simply on transportation.

Can someone help me out here?? Really appreciate it..

Thanks for the reply. Apparently bestshave.net specialises in low-end stuff and don't carry some of the better brands such as feather, merkur. As you said, I'd better look for other websites for safety razors.

Check out "Vendor Items For Sale" forum If you just want a few items Shipping wont be that much. and maybe free if you spend xxx

I'm from Abu Dhabi.

Sadly you'll only find the economical grade stuff here

Egyptian Lord razor - 3 dirhams
synthetic omega brushes at Carrefour and supermarkets
blades availability is more positive. You can find Feather, Astra SP, Derby, Bic, 5 o'clock easily at most grocery stores.
Regarding creams and soaps. There's Penhaligon's , L'Occitane and Aqua di Parma at Dubai mall.

I ordered all my stuff online through Bull goose and Lee's Razors.

Hi there

I just happened to find Feather's Popular DE razor set (http://www.leesrazors.com/products/Feather-Double-Edge-Razor.html) at Chachoos, Karama Centre, Dubai...of all the places. And, you won't believe the price at which they are selling these - Dhs. 32 a piece. Leesrazors.com is selling this for $21.99 which is 2.5 times the price in Dubai... Oo...crazy...If anyone is looking for this razor head over to Chachoos...

Welcome to B&B!

Ahh, Dubai, the name of the city evokes some fond memories of my years in Dubai. Shawarma, Falafel, Dubai Mall, the unbearable summer heat and pleasant winter months, the list goes on...! I was not into wet shaving while I was living in dubai so I unfortunately can't help you there, but you'll find many more options here through B&B.

One other vendor whose prices and shipping rates are very reasonable is Connaught Shaving, http://www.connaughtshaving.com/ based in the UK.

This is not to say that Connaught Shaving is better than the other vendors mentioned in this thread, but being geographically closer to Dubai than other US based vendors, I'd expect that orders from Connaught should get delivered to you faster.

I got mine for AED 25 lol.
I also picked up Astra SP and Derby. I'm happy now.
Among the three brands I have amassed about 900 blades. That's 3 years of shaving (I don't reuse blades).

Shaving.ie out of Ireland offers a boatload of high quality gear, very fast shipping, good prices, and great overall service.

Old thread I know, but Lulus stores in Abu Dhabi are very well stocked. Creams, blades and scents and very cheap too.

Noticed too late that this post is ancient.

Anyway:

- Dubai

There is a place called "Razors" in the WAFI mall. They advertise shaves; so better call ahead and find out whether they sell razors as well and for how much.
Haven't used this shop, but noticed it on a recent walk across the mall.
Some supermarket have economy DE razors, but nothing that ever tickled my fancy.

I usually pick up my razors when in Europe of North America, or have them sent to me. If you want to go that way, suggest you ask the vendor whether he can send it as a letter (not parcel) as it seems to pass customs quicker and you may not have to go to the Main Post Office to collect the shipment.

LuLu's Hypermarket (next to Emirates Mall) has usually Feather blades (Hi-Stainless 5 blade pack with black label) at a very reasonable price and some low-cost DE shaving gear and blades from the subcontinent.
Never looked for DE razors there, but you could give it a try.

Not that old, it is still relevant since it is not asking about shave technique.

I just paid a visit to Chachoos and they still carry the Feather DE Razor at Dhs 32 and the Concord D652 which appears to be identical to the Feather except it says Made in China for Dhs 14. I also picked up some Lord and 7 O' Clock blades at Dhs 1.50 per 5 blades for Lords and Dhs 1 per 5 blades for 7 O' Clocks. Omega brushes which appear to be synthetic are available for Dhs 10. A quick visit saved me a few $$$ on Amazon as I already have several high quality brushes and Mercur DE Razors...............Time now to experiment with cheaper options and expand my modest collection
