Default My Son's First DE Shave

I had a few extra minutes between sales calls and decided to stop into a local antique store. I ask the owner if he had any DE razors. He walked up the stairs and came back with a box containing a Red Tip, Super Adjustable and a couple Super Speeds. He sold me the entire contents for 20.00.
I have been trying to convert my son away fron his Fusion and this could not come at a better time. I cleaned all the razor's while my son watched and then gave him the Adjustable. He was at his weakest point ,out of Fusion blades and tired of paying the outrageous prices. He lathered up and on the first shave, no cuts, burn or irritation. I told him about Mantic's videos and advised him to come here. It was a very satisfying moment for both of us.

Excellent! Thanks for sharing. My son is 23 and I got him into DE shaving about 9 months ago. I gave him a Tech, a 40s style SS and a Fatboy. He tried them all and now shaves with the Tech exclusively.

That is great, A few months back I got one of my 18 year old twins to go from a bic to try a STR8. It was real cool. I hooked him up with a nice vintage Dovo an a Strop from Tony and sent him off to collage. I got a email from him for Xmas and it included. A new STR8 but bigger he said. Also wants some of the lime cream I use(Castle Forbes). That brush that has the handle like a vase (My PJ 3) and also that stuff you put on your face that cools(Polar Ice) now that made my day.

Uh oh Don, looks like your progeny has equally as good taste as your own. Advise him not to develop a test for the finer things in life, until he gets out of school. My dang good taste is absolutely killing my budget!

Just kidding guys, glad to see you're passing the experience along. I look forward to doing that with my kids someday.

I'm still hoping to convert my son. Gradually winning him over. Thanks for the inspiration.

    Great story!
I have always seen my dad with his black beard, so no-one showed me how to shave properly .

    ...he's a great father anyway...

Likewise. But I do remember seeing his stainless turnback badger brush in the cabinet, and a mug of Old Spice.

+1 for converting though. I just mailed a Christmas present to my brother in hopes he makes the switch

My dad shaves everyday, i've never seen him with anything more than some stubble. He never has problems even though he uses a mach 3 and regular gilette gel. He actually made fun of me when he found out how much money and time I was putting into this traditional wet shaving stuff. Also, being 20 years old and having the full quadrant beard out of my friends, they think it's silly too, and have no understanding. But that's ok! Although, it would have been to cool to have a dad that taught me all this stuff himself.
