Wanted to say hello to everyone and thanks for the wealth of information that you have all accumulated! I signed on three days ago and spent the weekend reading through the forums and learned quite a bit about wet shaving.
I have recently decided to start shaving with a straight razor and (unfortunately) fell into the trap of buying s couple of the "new" razors off Ebay. Lucky for me I found B&B shortly thereafter. I had a productive weekend online thanks to the info here and ended up with a few very nice shave ready vintage blades, some that need a little honing and a few more that need restoration.
I've done quite a bit of work in the past on both knives and guns and am good with my hands and a quick learner so I'm looking forward to diving into some restoration projects. I'll post some pics of the shave ready pieces once they get here since that seems to be the norm!
The nicer ones I ended up with: JH Torrey, FW Engles, Wade & Butcher and a DDuck Goldedge - sixty bucks on that last one which I thought was more than reasonable. I'm sure I'll be hitting you guys up for advice as time goes by and I look forward to meeting everyone!
-Eric
