Is a Somerset Simpson Chubby 3 in Best too skritchy?

I was informed that a Somerset Simpson Chubby 3 in best was skritchy. Will these brushes ever break in and become softer over time or will they always be rough on the face?

I have a Somerset era G.F. Trumper branded Chubby 3 in best, and I love it. I don't think it is scritchy at all. It is the far left brush in my avatar. That is a pre-bloom pic. I haven't taken any post-bloom pics of them. They are a matched set of Chubby 1, 2 and 3.
