Traveling FP repair kit?

Is the traveling FP repair kit still around? The sac in my Esterbrook SJ finally went and I'd like to see if I could repair it myself.

Best Regards,

Dan

I checked my threads as well and the one Nemo posted is the most recent about the tool box I believe. That being said, message Razorrookie and see if he has it. PM me if it does not have a sac in the size needed, I have a selection of common sizes and will gladly send you one.

Outstanding, razorrookie is going to be sending the kit my way.

Huzzah!

Be sure and list the current contents when you get it. I'm sre that there are several here that will send stuff to restock it as it gets sent around.

Should we post here if interested in getting it or should post in the original thread? I have 2 pens that are in good working order minus a functional sac ( one had a working sac when I got it, but dried ink was holding it together... Flushed it one too many times and heard a crinkly sound and all the ink poured out... now it won't take any ink up, but it still has a really springy lever.

Maybe it ripped, maybe just came loose at the nipple. Carefully open it and look.

Shoot dannymayo a PM and get in line, hopefully there's still plenty of shellac; I filled a small nail polish bottle so it may be getting low.

I received the repair kit the other day. There are two sacs in the kit, it they don't fit my Esterbrook I'll order a few and add some to the kit. Thanks.

I was wondering if I could hop in line to get that when you're done? I have an esterbrook with a bad sac as well.

If someone else is in line, let me know what thread to post in.

I'd also be interested in the kit when zethreal is finished with it. I have a Sheaffer with no sac. If there are no o-rings in it, I will order a pack to put in the box. I'm patient though (that, and since I have stuff shipped to work, I should probably wait until I start my new job in a new location... probably Feburary).

Do we have a link to the original thread? I'm just curious to see the contents of the kit. (I'm putting together my own little repair kit at the moment.)

I ordered some sacs to add to the kit since it only has 2 left. I ordered some size 16's, I received and e-mail saying that they just ran out and I'd have to wait. I hope they come soon, I'll double check the sacs in the kit to see what size they are.

Kind Regards,

Sacs came in the other day but my J bar cam out in two pieces, rusted to shreds! I ordered a J bar and it should be here in a few days, this "simple" repair is taking longer than I expected. When i removed the section from the barrel the barrel became deformed from the heat gun, I was able to shape it back but I didn't expect the barrel to deform so easily.

I've never been brave enough to use a heat gun. I've only used a hair dryer and never more than what will allow me to still hold the pen in my bare hand. I have some pens that it has taken mutiple heat/cool cycles to loosen the shellac, but I figured that was better than breaking the barrel or deforming it.

-Double Loupe
-Talc
-#16 sac
-2 unknown sacs
-2 O-rings
-Dentist's tool
-Brush
-Polishing compound
-DE blades
-2 emery pads?
-Unknown ink sample
-spring loaded thing, barrel vise?
-10 ml syringe and 14 gauge needle with the bevel removed.
-Shellac, it's not in the picture because I had to add some more shellac.

I'll get the kit to Zethreal this week.

Looks really good. Much more than when it started its travels! Thanks for documenting that.

I hope the scotch-brite pads don't get near any vintage pens or nibs. :001_huh:
