Feedback describes the ergonomics (the biotechnology pertinent to the adaptive interface of the user vis a vis the operant componentry) and "feel" of the stone.
Some stones are very hard (Shapton pro, Ebi snow white) and feel as if the blade is gliding over a piece of glass. The worst case scenario is skipping across the surface. Some softer stones seem to want to suck the blade down into the matrix, and give more of a sensation of the cutting process that's taking place.

Just keep in mind that are are many ways to skin a cat, and it's the sharpener, not the sharpening stone, that's important. Elsewise, you run the risk of becoming what Thoreau called "the tools of our tools".

IMO feedback is what you make of it. What did you sense and what is the result. It would be different for all. Sound, Sight, Feel. Perform the action jot down your feel then look at the edge through a microscope and start determining what your senses resulted in. Feedback is important to judging and learning. I felt this and the result was this. Over time you will be able to judge by that feedback where you are. My hearing is my strongest both in shaving and honing others might be feel or sight. It is all up to which of your senses is the strongest.

Oh yea and what Jay said.
