Default How long should a soap last??

I just started this awesome adventure and I have a question. I am using Colonel Conk Amber Soap 2.75oz and I am wondering how long I should expect the puck to last? I feel like I am going through a ton of soap, as in 1 puck barely lasted a week. I have been mixing the lather right on top in the bowl as instructed by Lee @ Leesrazors, if this is wrong or normal your input is appreciated....Thanks guys

You probably are leaving too much water in the brush. Since the soap is a glycerine soap, if you leave it in water or water on it, the soap will not last long.

I suggest following the soap lathering sticky post in this forum to avoid going through soaps too quickly and also getting a great lather out of your soaps.

1 week?! That must be some kind of record. I have yet to finish a Conk soap as I have a rotation set up, but my guess is it should last 4 times that long given everyday use.

My only regret is that I have but one face to shave.

Im sure it is a record... ...I thought it was screwed up. I thought it was strange that Lee suggested mixing right on top of the soap right in the same mug. Im guessing that I have too much water and do need to follow the Sticky and mix in a seperate mug....

Depends on which soap you are using. I can easily use up a Vanderhagen soap in a week, Conks last about a month and triple milled lasts me about 3+ months.

Which one only lasted a week? Other short lived soaps for me are Burma shave and Williams.

For me the almond lasts longer than the amber. I never liked the amber.

From previous posts, though, you mention that you dunk/soak your soaps though, correct?

I've been using the VDH Glycerin soap for right at a month and I still have over half left. I've been following the routine in the making lather sticky with good results.

Yes, I dunk the mug most of the time. I know this probably shortens the life of the soap, but it warms up the mug and just works better. I do have a Colonel Conk almond in the Conk travel case that I have used for a few years now when traveling, probably well over a months worth of shaves on it and I do not dunk that one.

Most glycerin soaps last me about a month. Your average triple-milled would probably last me around 6 months, but I believe my Tabac is going to close in on a full year.
