I'll probably cold water shave all winter, too. My apartment building in Chicago is filled with older folks and the management keeps the heat so high it's like a sauna in here. I think the cold water will be especially refreshing, even during the coldest, grayest days of February.

Or a traditional sauna, with the heat then the cold finish.

I may have to, as the nozzle I got was the wrong size and flamed up and wrecked the oil igniter and probably the electric igniter or whatever they call the safety on those damn things. I had a lukewarm shave today, but I foresee another cold one tomorrow.

I feel for you brother. A cold water shave should be your "choice". Good luck with your oil ignition and be safe.

365 for me for the last 10 months, I do add a few cubes in the Summer since the water isn't really cold that time of year.

Interesting, I have to look into cold water shaving. I tried it once with a Mach 3 and it was painful. I tore up my face pretty good too.

I'm updating this as my new boiler is being installed. I tried cold shaving for exactly 6 days : it's definitely a acquired taste. My biggest gripe, much like with shave creams like Razorock, is I just like a warm lather. I felt like it was harder to shave, as if the hairs on my face weren't softening up. Admittedly, a lot of that may be due to the fact I've also been taking cold showers in New York State as the weather changes, so my face isn't warming up first. Still, I could only see doing this in the heat of summer.

At least I gave it the old college try, even if that college was a SUNY school.

CWS for me all the way. I soak the brush in warm water but wash beforehand in cold, rinse between passes in cold and finsih with cold, in fact I soak a flannel in cold and apply this to my face after the last pass and leave it on for a short while and then dry my face.

Since reading on here about CWS I haven't done anything else since it worked so well for me. if I get a tiny nick on pass 1 then the cold water rinse before pass 2 cleans it up nice and in genereal i think I get more feedback and a better feel from it.

Other than soaking the brush - cold all the way.
