    Default Alden Indy boots

i'm looking for some advice from those of you that own a pair of Alden Indy boots. I know nothing of the Tru Balance last and was told by customer service at TSM that this last is true to size. I measure a 9D on a Brannock device and also wear a 9D on the Hampton last. However, I always wear a size 10D for tennis shoes. Should I just go with a 9D or a 9.5D?

I am an Alden aficionado as well.

I have a pair of Indy Boots in size 11 D. I wear Hampton last in size 11 D. I wear Barrie last 10 1/2 D. I would definitely go true to size and no larger. Hope this helps.

BTW, I've had the Indy Boots for 2 years now ... they are awesome. I have the 405 - brown. I've been fighting my SAD (shoe acquisition disorder) urges to get the 404 - Kudu brown with lug sole.

Gotta love them Indy boots. Definitely on my wishlist.

    I wear a Size 10.5 tennis sneaker.
I wear a Size 9 C/E in the Barrie Last.
I wear a Size 9.5 C/E in the Hampton Last (which seems just a tad too large)
I wear a Size 9.5 C/E in the Van Last.
I wear a Size 9.5 C/E in the Aberdeen Last.
I wear a Size 10 US in the J&M Crown Aristocraft last.

Therefore, by all accounts, I can't answer your question.
Honestly, I have heard that the TruBalance last runs a little larger, therefore, one would think you would go with the 9D. However, being a boot, you may choose to wear a thicker sock which may lead you to the 9.5.

    Read this. Hopefully, this helps.

I have been reading up on in the Indy boots and I think you size down a bit. I rather buy them in person and I really want a pair in the Kudu leather with the lug sole however there are no Alden Dealers here in Toronto (don't know if J. Crew will sell them here in October or not and Brooks Brothers only sells the dress shoes) and Alden has told their dealers in the US not to ship to Canada. Looks like a purchase on my next NYC trip in spring 2013.

I went down a half size from normal and the fit is correct. You can always return them if they are the wrong size. I also purchased the shoe cream that is a neutral, it will keep the stitching white if that is what you want. Great boot ..A purchase that I have no regrets on and TSM was very quick..

The Indy boots are one of those things that I would buy in a heartbeat if I had the spare cash. Remember to post pictures if you get some!

Toddscostumes.com makes a good budget Indy boot.

I wear mostly an 8.5 EEE in the Barrie last, but can comfortably wear a 9 EE. My Kudu indy boots are a size 9 EEE. I wasn't certain that I could do hte 8.5 EEE so I went with the 9 EEE but had to wait quite a while to get them from Leather Soul. I do have to wear heavier socks, but not heavy socks with them.

thanks, that was helpful. I was told that I would have to go down a half size if I wore a narrower width. can you tell me if yours is snug or a little roomy in the toe?

My original post was done at the office and based on memory - I was wrong . My apologies. Here is the accurate information upon inspection of my shoes/boots:
    Indy boots - 10 1/2 D
    Barrie last shoes - 10 1/2 D
    Hampton shoes - 10 1/2 D

My foot measurement using Brannock - 11 C/D

The Trubalance last is a roomy one, so my recollection now is that I was advised by my dealer to size down 1/2 size as I have always done with Barrie. Even so, compared to the Barrie, the toebox is a little roomier with the Indy boot but not too much so.

I would advise going true to size if you plan on wearing heavy socks etc., but for most accurate fit you may want to consider going down 1/2 size. Definitely do not go larger!

Sorry about the error earlier today - my passion for Alden shoes rivals that of my interest in razors and I was excited to share.
