Default I just shaved with the doors open and now I suffer.

I decided to shave with my fatboy on a 9 and at 1st i was surprised by the aggressiveness of it but decided to stick it out and with my cheek and neck done i saw red and blood and decided to change dial. just then i noticed my doors were like 1/3 open and now I realized how much of an idiot i was for not noticing. so now my cheek and neck are red and im worried about scars what do i do.Click image for larger version.

That's a mistake all of us have made at some point. Give your skin some time to heal and learn from the experience.

OUCH! Looks rough. Like James said, give shaving a break till your face calms down a bit. Maybe use some witch hazel on it a couple times a day, I don't think it will burn as much as after shave.

Take a few days off, and use Unrefined Shea Butter to help heal your skin. Welcome to the forum.

Give your face a rest, atleast a week. Keep it moisturized and clean. Hydrocortisone if it stings too much, but you should be fine. Also, aloe Vera gel is one of my favorite things in the world for stuff like this.

I've done the exact same thing! I've heard a lot of good things about the Unrefined Shea Butter, though have never used it. When I did this, I didn't shave for several days and kept it moistened with lotion. Just my two cents. Hope it heals quickly for ya.

Yeah man, give your skin time to heal up. I wouldn't worry about scarring though, but I will second (third?) the shea butter recommendation though. That stuff is AWESOME for your skin. I don't know what unrefined has to do with it but I know sometimes when I don't shave I'll still lather up with the VdH Deluxe which has shea butter in it and my skin feels great. Moisturizer (aftershave balm, shea butter, corn huskers whatever) and time are going to be your best friends right now. This is a learning experience, learn from it and drive on.

Seeing your signature "Only real men cry when applying aftershave". I guess you practice what you speech!

On a more serious note, as said above take a break. I would not worry about scarring. Looks like you just taken a small amount of skin rather than a huge deep cut.

I guess you'll NEVER shave with the "doors open" that wide for a while.

Lesson learned. Actually, because you have to leave the doors loose to change the adjustment dial on a FB, what happened to you is not that rare.

Apply some WH and a moisturizer and you will be on the road to recovery.

Do a touch-up with an R41, and finish with Pinaud Virgin Island Bay Rum.

    You'll thank me later.

Been there. Done that. Don't beat yourself up.

Practice with some test lathers while you let the skin heal.

I did the exact same thing with my super speed this morning only I caught it after only one pass and was shaving with the grain so no damage was done. I could definitely feel the blade scraping against the skin and tightened down the knob before the next pass. I wish you a speedy recovery!

Tht definately looks unpleasant, but not likely to scar. Keep your face clean, and as others have mentioned take some time off from shaving and you'll be fine. Better, actually, because you've learned a valuable lesson about checking your equipment before you shave, and it didn't even take a serious injury to learn it!

+1 a week into using my Futur I didn't check the adjustment dial (had a hot date and was a bit distracted) whoops!!! I figured it out REAL quick but nicked myself like you wouldn't believe. taught me a lesson not to be in a hurry when shaving.

I did something similar with my red tip - while I was shaving I inadvertently twisted the knob ever so slightly which in turn loosened the doors and blade just a tad.
After 3-4 strokes of totally ripping up my face, I thought maybe something was amiss. It only took 3-4 strokes of completely filleting my cheek before I realized something was up..doh!

Don't feel so bad. Let you skin heal up, it should be fine.

Yikes, that's what my neck looks like after I shave with a dull or too often with a cartridge like a Mach3 or Fusion. I'm hoping my first DE experience will change that.

    Good luck!
