    Default 1st shave with a GEM.nice

Hey Guys just wanted to post that I got over the scary SE fear I had ..
This is the Bad-Boy that did it...
I used no pressure , doing 2 passes WTG and ATG .

It was a good shave , not the best , but I know that will change as I get better with it and get a better(?) blade . I use a GEM blade bought at the drug store.

Gotta love the Victorian scroll-work on that razor.

I may be wrong but I believe these used wedge blades initially ?
The SE Razor Gurus can expand on that..
    Good looking set !

Try a MMOC or Flying wing if you want to truly experience what a SE shave is all about.

GEM started putting the Junior name on the models that could use the newly designed reinforced, rib-back blades and not the wedge blades.

And Wm.T, that is one very nice razor.

It really is a beautiful razor.
Part of the attraction to these old tools is the work they put into them , to give them a sense of style and class.
I love old and vintage things , but things I can use . When I carry a pocketknife , it's the same thing, it has to be OLDER than me .
The joy is in the using for sure ...
I have another GEM , not sure of the model ,GEM Jr. I think..
and another on the way. A Clog Pruf(?) - I got it through one of our vendors here on B&B

I have one of these and did use an SE disposable razor blade but, as the OP implied, it was a less than stellar shave ? So that is why I was thinking maybe I should have used a wedge..
You are the man on SE razors, bud !
Thanks. I will try it again - it is a cool looking razor.
