Very nice! Don't drop it!!
I've had success steaming the whole brush when I re knotted a chrome handle I had. Steamed for ten minutes, Grabbed it while it's hot and pulled the whole knot out. No pliers or scissors necessary.
So nobody has seen one before?

Nope, nice brush, I would try to re-knot the brush, I think if you soak the brush in very hot water and then pull the knot out, it should help instead of drilling.

Mark,
I just received one. Was going to do a whole post on it. I'll post a few pics here just to blow your mind. Give me a few mins.
Here we go. I received this set the other day off the 'bay. It was described as a porcelain shaving set by "Rodney". I'll tell the whole story in another post. Mark, if you want to PM me, I now know a tiny, tiny bit more about porcelain shaving sets.
Here's the dish with a truly well done picture of a mallard taking flight on the cover.
Surprise! The original soap is in the bowl. I'm morally certain this is vintage Yardley. Compared it with a puck I already owned.
Bottom of the dish shows the "Rodney" imprint.
Took this pic for a friend next to the Thater 2band Fan for scale. The "Rodney" brush weighs more than the Thater.
Didn't expect to win this and got it on a lark. Now I love it, but am afraid of breaking it. Porcelain...the world's most impractical material.

Simply gorgeous!! The handles of the earlier days could be made out of any materials really. I have read a few threads about the porcelain ones but have not seen one until now. I just bet that these looked (looks) dazzling when presented to the customer. Impractical? Well I say handle with care:) It´s all about the looks- and the weight.
Didn't Benton Clay make one a few years back?

you sure it say's rodney as im pretty sure its a Rooney set i have seen them for sale over the last year with different animal scenes and sometimes in cobalt blue with a gold band on them...
have a look at the pic in the 1st post http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthr...s-Rooney-brush
I put a new knot in a blue porcelain handle a few weeks ago. The old knot was easily removed using the steam method. http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthr...6-Avon-calling
