Default The Story of How I Contracted ASAD

I was always a Nivea ASB guy. This was the way it was since before I became a wet shaver, and I saw no reason to change. I was content. Then about 2 months ago, I came across a bottle of Tabac AS splash on clearance and figured I had nothing to lose by giving it a try. All it took was one splash. The scent was good; it didn't blow my mind, but how my skin felt after did. It was absorbed quickly and left my skin tight and smooth. But most importantly, it was light and my face felt refreshed, a feeling that even the mentholated Nivea balms could not impart. As so I became a splash convert. I quickly ran down to Family Dollar and picked up the Vijon OS and Brut clones. Again, they left my skin nice a refreshed. So that's when the AD kicked in. I have since added to my collection Floid Blue, Speick, Lucky Tiger, Nivea Energy splash, and have on order Alt-Innsbruck and Floid Vigoroso. In the past 2 months, I have accumulated about 2 liters of splash. Is that excessive?

Honestly, Aftershaves are probably the biggest thing I build a large collection of. I ended up getting many of the Pinaud ones, as well as AV and the like- I'm fighting off my desire to get speick right now (after smelling how nice the shave stick was.)
It may be excessive but at least your not alone eh?

I don't think it's excessive. I'm sure many folks here have more than that. Alt-Innsbruck is fantastic, I love it and use it regularly in my rotation (used it today in fact, put it on in the morning and can still faintly smell it now). Makes my skin feel amazing and it really clears things up nicely. Great menthol kick to it too.

Oh and Taproot, not to be an enabler...but that Speick AS is phenomenal for what it does for your skin. Smells great but the scent does not linger for very long at all (unfortunately), about 20 minutes or so. They do have a cologne that would have more longevity I would Imagine but I haven't tried it.

I currently have 25 splashes in my rotation, plus some unopened backup bottles (and a few balms, though I don't like them as much). Honestly, aftershave is more important to me than food; if I really desire an expensive aftershave, I WILL buy it, even if it means I have to take money out of the food budget.

I too caught the ASAD. I started with plain witch hazel followed by prorasso balm for about 9 months. As summer kicked in my face felt oily after thw balm, so I order someprorasso splash and some speick. Love them both. I then ran across some clubman locally. Then curiosity got me to try AV. In the last month I have aquired tobs jermyn lotion, pashana, masters bay rum, clubman bay rum, musgo real, AV musk, and aaran aromatics bay citrus. I got at least 10 more in my sights. Man do I have the bug.

I see that I am not alone. I have been afflicted with ASAD as well. At first, AS were simply viewed as an afterthought. When I started using them I was doing the typical Pinaud, AV, SB and OS thing. I thought I was fine. Then I found Speick and Musgo Real. The world of aftershaves opened before me. Now, aftershaves are probably my biggest collection in my den. From Vintage Avon to splashes from around the world to almost every splash, milk and balm that CSCS has ever marketed now occupy a place, a very prominent place in my den. An afterthought no longer!

Count me among the victims. Garry's samples has been an affordable way to try different scents. Since I've started shaving with my Merkur in the beginning of August, I've picked up Old Spice, Aqua Velva, and Lucky Tiger (love this stuff, especially when I shave at night). On deck is Proraso and Speick, I sampled and loved both!

Definately get the speick and proraso. Nice scents not overpowering, and don't. clash with edt's if you choose to wear. I find myself splashing for a midday refresher or at night before I go to bed. Also do this with bay rums.
