Hello all.
Just tried Proraso soap this morning for the first time, same great menthol smell but I failed to get a decent lather. I did my usual routine, soak the brush whilst showering, squeeze out excess water then swirl the brush on the product 30-40 seconds followed up by transferring to my mug for a further 30 second lathering. The result was a relatively thin lather that seemed to disappear quite quickly from my face after 2 passes I ended up putting a squirt of Proraso cream in my mug and re-lathering for my final pass. I am not stupid enough to dismiss the product as I have read enough about it to know it's good so what am I doing wrong? I have fantastic results from Arko, which is the only other soap I have in my arsenal so what's different with the Proraso? Just in case anyone says it's a stick, I normally press my Arko into a mug and lather that way so I presumed the Proraso would work the same, albeit in it's own plastic case. I would appreciate some help as I don't want to give up on the mighty Proraso, not to mention I found an Italian supermarket near me that sells it dirt cheap!

Sounds like you need to load more soap onto your brush. Don't give up . Proraso will give you an excellent lather once you get your soap and water ratio down.. Also make sure you add plenty of water to the mixture.

I used Proraso green tub soap for the first time at the weekend and I had a great lather and a great shave.

I face lather so loaded the boar brush for about 30 seconds (soaked while showering as yourelf anf given a good couple of shakes beforehand) and then straight to the face. Add a bit of water from a bristle dip and off I went. I had 2 of the smoothest, most comfortable shaves yet from this great soap and I love the menthol as well.

Have to say I was really pleased with this soap after all I had read about it.

It takes me about 30 seconds to load some of my brushes with the Proraso tub, closer to a minute with other brushes. I put warm water in the Proraso tub while my brush is soaking, at least a minute, then dump the water from the tub and the brush.

Ok I'll have another go tomorrow, I know there's a lather explosion in there just waiting to come out! I think I'll try and get more on the brush first and I'll also add some water to the soap whilst I'm in the shower.

Oh, another fellow from Wolfsburg! I guess you're talking about the "Andronaco" in Fallersleben near McDonalds and Sports 2000? Really good prices there. A pity they don't have the 400 ml bottles of Proraso splash for around 19 Euro currently.

I never had problems with Proraso soap from that dealer. Try to load your brush more heavily. Or take some additional soap and transfer it into your mug.

That's the very place! I finally got around to checking it out last Saturday and was happy to find they stocked Proraso, I did notice a couple of empty spaces on the shelves I hope they get in the 400ml bottles of splash that'll definitely be purchased. If they were to start stocking Proraso red I'll be their number 1 customer.

If it's the new formula I found that it was a softer lather that disappeared quickly also.

I have the new formula and I get a fantastic lather with it, both in hard and soft water. I find Proraso to be virtually fool-proof.

To the OP, if all you did was load and then work your brush on your face for 30 seconds then you will have lousy lather; you would with any soap using it that way. You need to build the lather on your face. Dip the tips of the brush in the water a couple of times adding water to the lather on your face. Spend a minute or two actually building lather on your face and you'll have more lather than you know what to do with. Your trouble is you're not adding enough water to your lather after you've loaded your brush.

I broke out the Proraso this morning and following everyone's advice I was drowning in lather, a fantastic shave was had. Cheers for all the advice I knew it was just me.

Good stuff - I recommended Proraso to a mate and he emailed me this morning having used it and thanked me for the rec. It's a quality shave so glad you got a really good shave out of it.

I've never been able to get a good lather from the "pea" sized dollop of cream like other people can. I have to use more of an almond sized amount - and it makes a great lather. It took me a couple of weeks to get it down, but I still love using Proraso from time-to-time.

I love my Proraso products, it took me a few shaves to get the lather down but once you do it is amazing!
