I'll try that, dropping a cherry tomato from a predetermined height and check doe "done-ness"

Tomatoes are also acidic and react with steel, so be careful if you use them. Also, please eat them and don't throw them away...

Good point, wash after use, and put tomatoes in salad.

I actually save the cherry tomatoes that are past their prime and use them

I eat my cherry tomatoes before they're past their prime.

By the way, Doc, if you ever get the chance, you should go to the Red Fire Farm Tomato Festival up in Granby, MA. (Unfortunately you just barely missed it this year.) They had just short of a hundred cultivars of tomato when I went and let me have the left over cherry tomatoes afterwards. I made the best salsa afterwards with them.
