I think part of it may be simply that people are more likely to post when they have a positive experience. A lot of people will also post when they are struggling so that they can seek out advice, but when you're just slogging along you may not feel as inclined to post. For me it has been a roller coaster. In the beginning I was excited about the new experience, but after a few shaves I started to feel discouraged. For a while I was feeling like the shaves were as bad or worse than the M3 shaves, but required a lot more time and effort. Then along came new discoveries, improved technique, some closer shaves, fewer weepers, and renewed hope. After a while things started to plateau, and frustration seeped back in. I think it's important to keep things in perspective. As is often pointed out, this is a new skill, but I think most of us have been shaving a lot of years and feel like we should be able to pretty quickly adapt to new tools and hope for great results right away. I am 17 shaves in and so far have nothing much to brag about. I can honestly say it keeps getting better, but I have a good ways to go before I achieve DFS and BBS isn't really on my radar yet. I have yet to complete a shave without at least one weeper, although I've come very close sometimes with just the tiniest nick. I also continue to get varying degrees of irritation on my neck. I have often read posts and thought I had found "the solution", but have come to accept the old truism that there is no substitute for time and practice. Of course YMMV and I'm sure there are people who achieve great results very quickly, while others may never get there, but for most people I think it's just a matter of sticking with it, learning from your mistakes and from the collective experiences of others going through the same thing and sharing their triumphs and failures. It appears neary every post in the "newbie" is how great their 1st DE shave is - BBS, no nicks, weepers etc ect
Jeasouly is a cruel mistress but I will endure on with looking unshaven, nicks and razor rash for a little while yet
