Default Confession is good for the soul (Real bonehead rookie mistake)

Okay, after 10 days, I finally got a decent DE shave this morning. I have been patient as the mentors on this site have told me to stick with it and not get discouraged. Yesterday, I was doing a leisurely DE shave in preparation for church and the results were absolutely terrible. I had to resort to finishing with my Fusion to be presentable. This morning I decided to try a new blade and discovered that I had incorrectly assembled the razor. I put it together correctly with a new blade and it worked perfectly. Duh! I flunked out of engineering school but I should have noticed this error before. I hope that by sharing my mistake, other rookies can add this to their checklist if they aren't initially happy with their DE shaves. Ensure you have correctly assembled your razor!

We've all done weird stuff while learning. Glad you figured it out.

Don't worry, when I ordered my first DE off ebay, it was assembled wrong. Simple mistake, simple fix, and it will never happen again.

I've come close. I saw an image of a different brand of razor and started to doubt myself. I went and tried flipping it. After a while I looked at it and decided the way I had it the first time must be right because of the curve of the blade. I did feel foolish not knowing, though.

No big deal, I'm sure (whether we want to admit it or not) everyone has assembled a 3 piece razor upside down at least once!

No Worries. I did exactly that on my first shave, it looked like it was the right way to put it together. Took me a good while to figure out why the hair wasn't being cut.

Thanks to all for your support. My shaves are improving now that I have the blade in contact.

I made a good attempt at putting together a DE89 wrong when I first got it. Luckily I didn't shave with it but I did try to put it together wrong.
