Wink My First restores. Surry/VDH handles

    Good evening,

I wanted to post pics from my first two restores. CyberJCM pif'ed me two great handles, and I restored them with Golden NIB knots.

The white brush has a 24mm Finest knot set at 49mm loft, and the blue brush has the 24mm super silvertip set at a loft of 48mm. I can't wait to try them out.

This is the what they looked like to start with

I drilled out the old knots with a drill press

This pic is not the greatest, but it is after I sanded and polished them up.

    And finally the finished product.

Excellent work on both, but that Blue is a stunner! Enjoy!

Very, very nice! I am a "restore newb/wannabe. Does anyone know of any vendors or hobbyests that may produce a red handle? I'm looking at some possible handle choices by Whipped dog and Shave A Buck in burgundy or maroon but I would like to find a handle in true red.

Thank you everyone... I can't wait to give them a try. How long do you let the epoxy cure before using?

SteveWY: I have seen some nice Red and White Ever-ready handles both here in the BST and on ebay.

Give it 24 hours before using it. The epoxy will typically set in about 5 minutes. But it takes about a day to cure completely.

Great job on the Polish!! I think the hardest part is to get a good shine on them. Yours look like glass!
