Rate the C&E Scents

I went into a C&E store today while on vacation. The only shave soap in this particular store was Nomad, a scent I was not fond of. I have never used any C&E shaving soaps. There is a second C&E store I plan to visit on my way home and I called them today. They have all 4 soaps in stock. With that said, I have a couple of questions.

1. How good are the C&E shave soaps?
2. Of the 4 scents, Nomad, Sienna, Sandalwood, and WIL, which one is your favorite?

I love the Sienna shave soap. For me it has a very leathery scent. I wanted to like the Nomad, but didn't care for it. I'm not a fan of sandlewood, and I have not encountered the other one.

I've been using the cream and balm in my rotation for years and it smells wonderful.

WIL = West Indian Limes

I recently purchased tubes of West Indian Limes, and Nomad shaving cream. Nomad has in the past been likened to the smell of green peppers, and smelling it in the tube I do understand that vibe; the scent might change once lathered up.

West Indian Limes is a scent I quite like. I am not a big fan of lime in general, as many times the smell is very synthetic. The C and E Limes though smells pretty natural too me, and is quite pleasant.

West Indian Limes, by the way, is a new product line that just came out within the last month.

+2 for Sienna. The scent is downright intoxicating and highly recommended. I also agree that their West Indian Limes scent is pretty good. i recently picked up the WIL balm and quite enjoy it.

As far as how good the shaves soaps are considered, I used to use them, but find they're more drying to my skin than I like, of course YMMV, but they're generally considered middling compared to many other quality soaps. Their aftershave balms, on the other hand, are delightful. Soothing, moisturizing and wonderfully fragrant. C&E Sienna balm was one of the first Products I purchased as a wetshave and it has yet to be dislodged as a prime fixture in my shave. It's just that good, though it pis a bit on the pricey side.

I have only used their Nomad and Sandlewood soaps. I love the Nomad soap, it is my go to winter soap although Mike's Pine & Cedarwood will challange it this year. I like the scent of their Sandlewood, unfortunately my skin doesn't like any sandlewood products I have tried but the soap performed well. Sienna and the WIL are on my short list.

From the website, the description of the Sienna sounds great, as does the scent combination used in the WIL. I tried a sample of the Nomad ASB while in the store. The consistency was fantastic and the scent of the balm had some very nice staying power, but at $10/ounce, it would be hard to beat my QCS ASBs for the same price point. I dont doubt the C&E ASB quality but the QCS ASBs treat my skin very well.

And of course a big part of a great shave is finding out what works great for you! If QCS balms do the trick for you then that's great! I find aftershaves to be a highly personal choice anyway.
