Wink BIC Chrome Platinum: I Believe!

    Greetings from Mendel!

I had a 5 pack of BIC Chrome Platinum DE blades and finally got around to testing them. I must say, I believe! It is an excellent blade and provides a comfortable, nick free, smooth shave.

This blade may very well become one of my favorites joining my Personna Labs, Astra SP, and Gillette 7 o'clock yellows.

For those of you that have used the BIC DE blade, your thoughts?

A prime example of YMMV. For me, they have had to been one of the worst blades I have ever used. Gave it several tries over more than a years worth of time in three different razors, and still one of the worst blades I put against my whiskers. Again, another YMMV and glad they work for you but I'll never use one again :)

I've only tried these a couple of times, but I really liked them.

Bic´s are one of the few blades that i can get locally in a brick and Mortar store, and dirty cheap by the way, unfortunately i cant shave with them at all. The worst i have ever tried. YMMV.
But congrats for you for findind a blade that suits your needs.

I used them early in my DE journey and found the Bic's to be a meh middle of the road blade. I probably should revisit them at some point to see if my shaving prowess makes them a better blade for me.

So how do they compare to the Gillette yellows? Also how do they compare to the polsilver blades?
i love the labs and yellows, was not a fan of the Astra blades but I should probably revisit them.

    Hi JTB!

For me, I have found BICs to be smooth and nick free. I pushed them and was able to get 4 shaves. Albeit, the 4th shave was really pushing it. My Arizona pal, I will send you a few to test. But please test them with a couple of your favorite razors and soaps. By the way, if I was to re-rank my favorite blades:

    1. Personna Labs
    2. Bic (yes, BIC)
    3. Gillette Yellow
    4. Astra SP
    5. Polsilvers and Israeli (Red) Personnas

Got a pack with a feather razor I bought on BST.Previous owner swore by the blades and said they performed better in the razor then the feathers or astras I usually use.Talk about ymmv. I could not get a decent shave with the blades no matter which angle I held the razor.Put in a new feather blade and magic!!

I have to agree with the original posting... these blades have been probably the biggest surprise for me. I have been working my way through the "Everything" blade sampler from West Coast Shaving and made my way to these. I have used 2 blades about 6 to 7 times (!!) and no skin irritation or burn at all! As the blade has dulled, it just required more aggressive blade buffing to get to BBS. I probably could have kept with the blades but it was too labor intensive and annoying, I didn't really want to add another pass to my routine. I've had one knick but it was my fault, I had shaved over a pre-existing scratch that re-opened.

But yeah, I am shocked how well they work. I expected them to be complete garbage, based on my experience with BIC disposable razors. Blegh. But their DE blades have been great. If I didn't have another handful of brands to try left in the sampler I'd go ahead and buy a 100 pack of these now!

I never really got good shaves from them. They just did not work for me.

Probably in the top 5 for me as far as blades go. In fact, the only blades that have performed better than the BiC would be Lord Racer and Schick Plus Platinum. So I guess that would put them in my top 3, huh?

I just tried a Bic Chrome Platinum for the first time in my 1904 - instant success.

So far the only blades I really enjoy in my 1904 are the Derby and now BIC. Everything else has been acceptable, but not great.

first impressions -got these with a recent order and had not tried -gave these a try yesterday -- give good comfortable clean shave -- much better than the Bic Astors..
the Bic Chromes almost as sharp as Feathers and fell more comfortable to use.. available from Turkey 15:25 for 100 ..

I love them so far. I only have experience with one of them though because I am doing a blade testing round. But it is the best of all blades I have used.

I find it very sharp yet it is gentle on my skin.

Loaded up one for the first time a few days ago... Today would have been my 3rd shave on it. Gave me decent shaves, fairly comfortable, but overall, not a bad blade... I've used worse. Changed it out this morning, as it was tugging, put a new Gillette 7 O'clock Yellow in my Tech and it was a bit less efficient than I thought it should be, so it may have been my lather this morning. Not bad at all.
