    Default paduak and CA..

    God evening gentlemen!
I have a quick question, im working on a set of paduak-scales.
<first of, they are more brown than red so im guessing the have been oxidizing for quite a while. Second, they are drinking ca-glue like there is no tomorrow, I'm about 5-8 grams in right now and i still got "dry" spots so to speak. Amarant and other woods ive used it on get saturated quite fast and im starting to wonder if im doing anything wrong. Any ideas?

Never worked with paduak, but how thin or thick is your CA and what drying time? I use Loctite Professional Liquid with great results after 2 coats on unstabilized wood.

That seems excessive, I haven't had the issue myself with Paduak. I can't think of anything you'd be doing wrong though. Might be the wood.

    God morning!
Its very thin, very much like water. And it dries superfast(as advertised). However, im beginning to think that the quality of the wood is the issue, its not very dense so theres probably lots of pores to fill. Im going to try to put on a really thick coat to seal it.
    Thank you for the input!

Paduak has big pores, some pieces HUGE pores. CA is worthless at filling unfortunately... I'd go with epoxy if you must cover the wood in something.
Padauak is tough stuff, a simple wipe-down with oil gives all the protection it will need for many years.

The brown color is oxidation, sand it down & it will be orange again.

If you want to keep the orange as long as possible look into a professional UV-proof laquer.
But for good results you must fill all the pores & seal it. A lot of work on a pourous wood as padauk...

    Hello!
Thank you for all the input! I flooded these with ca, about ten grams, and they turned out great. However. As Honed Said, there is no uv-block in ca. Bit, i thought it was oxidized by oxygen.. time Will Tell i guess :) . To bad though, this was hard work.

hmm.. and the pictures are a bit numb in the colours im afraid, they came straight from my phone. they are quite red, not as red as i expected though.
Next I'm going to put them thru some turtlewax to get the surface ubershiny.
