Are you kidding me or what

I just got an email from Bernd and Shavemac 8 hours ago stating that my brush has been made and is ready for shipment tomorrow morning

I ordered a bulb from him a little over a month ago. It is stuck in customs for importing animal hair right now. totally rediculous if you ask me. It's a freaking shaving brush. I had to give them my SS number to get them to release it. Oh well...I can't stay mad about it. I am tickled to death that my brush is actually going to be here this week!

That is a beautiful brush Claus I know that you will enjoy it for many years.

As a follow up to some of the questions above, my experience pretty much parallels edgerunner's. I find that the flat top is a soap eating machine and a wonderful brush in every regard. I have only used it with creams a few times mostly because of its performance on soaps and I have other brushes that perform so well with creams. The fan and the bulb perform equally well with either soaps or creams. All three are top performers with shave sticks.

    Regards,

    Doug

Thanks, Claus. That one IS beautiful. Is that a stock picture, or did they take a picture of the one they made for you before they shipped it?

It's just a stock pic - you can see that it is a 3-Band Silvertip NON D01 in the stock picture.

Mine will be a D01 2-Band Silvertip Bulb shape - and I will use it exclusively for face lathering creams and croaps (don't use soaps, since they tend to dry out my skin)

Will take pics once I get it in for anyone interested

Thanks, I'm sure I will enjoy it. I like the scritch and less bloom I get on 2-Banders

I still don't own a Shavemac yet. I guess I'll have to remedy that soon.

As you can tell, the first pictures were taken with daylight coming in through the window. The others were taken tonight after use. It was still a little damp. I love the feel of this brush. It's going to take some time to get used to that massive handle though. Also, you can see some silver hair at the bottom. It is supposed to be a 2-band. So, that was unexpected. Should I be concerned about whether or not there was a mistake?

Gorgeous handle!! Congrats! Looks like a 3 band to me - D01 3 band?

I ordered a D01 2-band. That is what is on the receipt too. I guess I will have to email Bernd. Thanks for the confirming my observation.

That is a 2-band brush. Both my Thater and Rooney 2-bands have a bit of light-colored bristle at the handle also. It's nothing to be concerned about.

Thanks vocalistbob. What makes you certain that it is 2-band?

Just got my Shavemac Bruyers Wood D01 2-Band - read about my problems with Shavemac in this thread:

I own four 2-band brushes and three of the four have a bit of light colored hairs at the base. Not quite as much as yours maybe, but that brush looks a lot more like a 2-band than a 3-band. I have never seen a 3-band with a band of black that wide. But if you're in doubt, you should follow up with the vendor or manufacturer or both.

So I finally got my Shavemac after 2 days of fedex issues. I have been lucky enough to have a light schedule and each day walked down to find a fedex package undeliverable yadda yadda yadda sticker on my door. Nevermind that I was home for those two days. On the third day, my landlord called (we rent an apartment upstairs from him) and said a fedex guy kept showing up at his backdoor. WTHell?

Anyway, after going to the local pickup place I got my 23048, unharmed. It has a very nice black and white handle with a 24mm D01-2Band bulb. I have started face lathering soaps more frequently and found my Rooney a tad too soft, although still luxurious for creams. Can't wait to try out this badger in the morning. Will post some pics then. Cheers!

Here it is post use. 23048, 24mm D01 2Band Bulb.
Had a very nice and stiff backbone which is exactly what I wanted. Almost no fanning at all and it will be interesting to see how it breaks in. My lather didn't turn out the best but still gave a pretty darn good shave for a first attempt. Interestingly enough, there is a small lighter band near the base, but it vanishes when wet.
