There's something I can't figure out. When the brush is dry the tips feel really scrubby, almost abrasive, but when it's wet they are really soft. I've never experienced that before. Anyway, I'm really happy with it so far.

Very nice...Jim selected a good one for you! That knot and handle are stunning.

The difference in how it feels dry and wet is nothing to be concerned about. I believe Rooney, is like Thater...they have "hooked tip hair" or Curled Tips. If you look closely at the tips, they are kind of "hooked", giving it a very scratch, rough feel when dry. But when it gets wet and lathered, it's ultra soft.

I sold my Rooney a while back, but I remember it being like this. My current Thater is exactly the same.

    Enjoy it.

The TGN Super Badger is the same way. It feels very tough and scritchy when dry and super soft when wet.

    Beautiful brush

Where did you buy it - vintage blades or ?

My Duke 3 2-band and Chubby 2 2-band is also very stiff at the tips when dry, but smooth and soft when wet.....

I bought it from Vintage Blades. If you call and talk to Jim you can tell him what qualities you're looking for in your brush and Jim will hand select one for you that fits the bill. That's how I got mine.

My Thater is exactly the same way. My Simpson Best feels softer when dry, but the Thater is crazy soft once wet.
