Bought a new bout from Jarrod, it's number 9 bout. Told him I didn't care for a coti with "texture". Was told this should fit the bill of wanting a smooth surface.

Got the stone today. The chip was pretty small and easy to lap out. It's a real smooth feeling stone so I'm happy about that. Now I just need to put a razor or two to it and see how well it does. Oh, it also feels like a pretty hard stone too which is nice.

Honed a razor on it today. It's fast on slurry (turned black with only 15 half strokes) and slow with water with a nice feel. I'm pretty pleased with it.

Your descriptions sound consistent with some of the upper layer La Dressantes I've seen and used. Nice rock. By the way, are those thin black lines more apparent in person or when the stone is wet?
