    Default British Sterling Aftershave?

I saw some of this stuff at Wal-Mart of all places, while fooling around there last week. Has anyone ever tried this stuff, what's it like?

A nice classic from the 60's. I have been using it off and on for 50 years now.

It's a well liked Drug Store Classic, I use the Aftershave and Cologne almost daily for Work, the fragrance is a little Sweet and Spicy. It opens with Floral and Citrus which quickly passes into Nutmeg Cedar, Cinnamon & Clove balanced by a base of Musk, Amber, Oak and Sandalwood. It was one of my Dad's daily fragrances and one of the reasons I use it, not as rich or long lasting as it used to be, though most aren't these days.

I have a bottle of British Sterling I bought online. I've used it a couple of times. It's not my favorite. Cool glass bottle and all but it's kind of musky/weird.

I think it's great. My wife likes it so well that she bought me a backup bottle.

My Dad wore it and I've always loved the smell. SWMBO is not a fan so I don't wear as much as my other A/S

I think it works better as a cologne than aftershave as the two are basically the same but in a different bottle with different shades of green. Love the scent, but the quality of the aftershave is lacking. Oh how this forum has spoiled me on good aftershaves.

Wow, another blast from the past. I used it many years ago when I first started shaving. I didn't realize it hit the market in the 60's though. Anyway, it's another one of those scents that IMHO you either like or you don't. Probably to those younger forumites it's another of the old time or old man fragrances. Way cool bottle without a doubt, makes me want to run out a get one.

Especially those bottles from the earlier years. They had a chromed metal cover over the top which later changed to a chromed plastic, not nearly as elegant. Some had a finish on the glass which looked like a mirrored glass surface.

I'll have to give it a try again next time I'm at the store. Like you guys said the bottle was way cool, but I don't remember if I liked the scent and it was $16 so I wasn't going to even give it a try. It must have been in the blast from the past aisle since it was next to the Jovian Musk and Jovian Sex Appeal.

Not to sidetrack but the Sex Appeal is another good one suited for the Fall/ Winter.

I used it from time to time for many years and bought a bottle about a year ago and was disappointed with the reformulation. I will have to try it again.

I used some in the 'way back, but I think it may have been relatively expensive compared to my more usual choices then (Aqua Velva, English leather, Old Spice, Skin Bracer). The best price I saw not long ago was about $15 for four ounces.

I just ordered some today from drugstore.com. It was $11.25 for 3 ounces so yes its a bit more pricey than what I usually use, im a Clubman bay rum addict, but it helped me meet the $25 order to get the free shipping while buying some shave cream and I remember I liked it back in the day.

After smelling it last week,I'm not sure why I wore it often in high school. I guess the nose has changed. I don't like it now.
