Default Any opinions on Black XX?

So I am ordering some Grousemoor plug and Ennerdale and somehow stumble on some BlackXX reviews. What is it closest to. A Va? English? Spawn of Hades?

Hmm. Maybe I should have waited on the 4oz bulk buy. Maybe I can sprinkle it in the lawn to keep the dogs and cats away :)

Second the tire fire. I will revisit, though.

Reminds me of burning insects and smoldering wet leaves, but in a good way.

Funny you should say that as it looks like something the dog would have left on your lawn!

Very good stuff though if you can handle it. VERY strong and will knock you flat given a chance. I have a few ropes I smoke now and then when I'm feeling brave. They are straight Virginias by the way. Some of the ropes are flavoured but I don't think the black XX is.

If you like Grousemoore plug, you should love Ennerdale, it's pure Lakeland floral.

I find the Ennerdale a bit sweeter and a better room note. I get more compliments on that than any other blend I smoke.

To give you the "haters" opinion, it has been stated that it is like smoking "Aqua-Net" hairspray. Of course those people are uncouth and have no appreciation for finer things. The type that would ask for an 18 year old Scotch "and Coke, on the rocks".

Is it stronger than 1792 or say GL Pease's Haddo's Delight or Cumberland?

About 3x as strong as 1792. That being said, I adore the stuff (in a small clay).

I think my old review of 1792 Flake said that it didn't smell so much as tonquin, but as the Gulf of Tonkin.

Tonquin is a tobacco preservative that imparts that classic "Lakeland" smell and taste. It's sort of a vanilla-ish perfumey taste and smell. (TBH it reminds me of the smell of dryer sheets.)

Some sort of tonka bean extract? Sounds related as tonka has some vanilla-ish qualities.
