    Default Avon calling...

I purchased this blue ceramic Avon brush & mug on the big auction site for $5 last year. I've been using the mug, but the brush has been sitting on a shelf unused and unloved. They arrived as new in the original Avon gift box that was most likely sold in the 70's or 80's. I really didn't need another boar brush when I already had three Omegas, one Semogue and one Ever-Ready which I restored with a TGN English Boar knot.

As a matter of fact, I really didn't need another Badger brush either, but I had a 24mm TGN Finest sitting in a drawer for the past eight months and I figured what the heck. I took my calipers and measured the opening in the ceramic handle and low and behold it was perfect!

I used the steam method for removing the old knot and it was too easy. I set the new knot in place (55mm loft) using marine epoxy. The photos below show my completed project.

I did not use the lather shown in the photo for shaving since it was too runny for my liking. This brush holds a ton of water and I needed to add more product in order to get the lather right. Once I did, the velvety soft tips applied copious amounts of lather to my face. It was a beautiful shave and a great brush to add to my rotation. At first, I thought that it may be too floppy since most of my other badgers are set at 45-50mm, but that is not the case.

Nice I remember Avon and Sears selling those types of sets in the early 1980's.

Excellent work. That looks like how it should have been made in the first place. Enjoy!

Never heard of that Avon set before. Add one more to the want list. Do they say Avon on the bottom?

There were probably several outfits selling these products (Gift Sets) in their own packaging.
