I've only used it twice, but the scent is absolutely incredible and the performance is flawless.

I already had 3 of the Harris soaps (missing Marlborough) and, since I didn't care for the scent of the Windsor towelette, I had absolutely no plans to order the Windsor soap. Yet here I am with a bowl of Windsor, caving to the WCS deal of the day. The Windsor soap arrived today and I shaved with it about an hour ago. I'm still not too keen on the scent (too cologne like), but fortunately the scent of the soap is subtle enough that I don't mind it. I used only witch hazel as an aftershave and an hour later can still get a faint whiff of it now and then. Performance? It's a Harris soap and it's excellent. One last comment. I would expect that all Harris soaps would feel and perform the same, and while they all perform great, for some reason Lavender and Windsor stand out for the richness and creaminess of the lather. Maybe I'm just imagining it, but it makes a great shave even better. YMMV.

Brian, I have a sample of Windsor soap inbound from Garry. Unfortunately he is currently out of Arlington which I was also going to sample. Could you compare the scents of Windsor and Arlington for me? I will assume performance is basically the same. Thanks!

I prefer the Arlington scent which to me is a mellow citrus/sage scent. Windsor is just cologne-like. The Lavender is very nice, not "eye-watering" like some lavenders. And Almond, which I purchased as a stick and transferred to a tub, has virtually no scent at all. I want to say it's on the order of quinine, but it's so hard to pick up a scent. From what I've read, it seems the strength of the scent may vary from puck to puck. Hopefully other members will chime in on scents since I'm not very good at it. To date I haven't used any product that beats the performance of a Harris soap. I started off the year with no Harris soaps and now have 4. The last will be here before the year is out.

Thanks, Brian. I quite agree about Almond; has a "clean" scent which I have heard before smells like eau de quinine. Also have Lavender, the scent of which I think is purely wonderful! I shall await the Windsor sample and, when it comes, break out the scent towelettes I received from D.R. Harris to try to make a comparison. It is sounding like perhaps I should get a sample of Arlington when it again becomes available. Appreciate your information!

All I've used so far is the sample of the Windsor aftershave that I received from Garry.

I like the scent, but can't say that I love it, though I can totally see how one could. From what I remember of the scent of the sample of Arlington soap I tried so long ago, I think I prefer that scent.

If you were to force me to buy my first full sized Harris product right this minute, I would go with something from the Arlington line.

Absolutely love the Windsor shave soap and A/S! I've been using my combo for about a couple of weeks and is absolutely wonderful...The scent IMO is a nice "blend" of Arlington and Marlborough qualities...I too use these 2 other wonderful Harris soaps/scents but the Windsor has definitely been elevated to #1 starter on the depth chart. The performance of the Harris soaps & A/S are top notch and one of the best IMO.

My soap had arrived yesterday and when I smelled it, I cursed myself why I did not order the EdT. Performance is same as Arlington(which smells like lime cologne to me interestingly). Although I ordered the EdT today.

Quick question for you windsor soap guys.

What brushes are you using with it? I wonder if my rooney 3/1 super would be too soft.

Ive tried the cream and i love the scent.

I say no. One of my favorite brushes with a Harris soap is a Rooney 3/1 Super. And I have an older model with a higher loft (48mm), so mine is more moppy (splay) than the newer ones. I like the Rooney/Harris soap combo so much, it was the brush I chose to christen my new Windsor soap. My well water is on the hard side so I did 100-120 swirls on the Windsor to load the brush and after 4 passes I still had plenty of lather left in the brush.

Great performance, typical Harris. Scent is faint, light citrussy and a very faint woodsy scent - not bad at all.

I had my first shave with it this morning and enjoyed it very much. I have both Marlborough and Arlington and the AS and colognes to match but I am not yet sure if I will do the same with the Windsor. It will take a few more shaves for me to determine if I like it well enough to get the AS and EDT. I do like it and I think that I agree with Rudy on his description of the scent.

The Fedex guy finally delivered my Windsor yesterday. I quickly ripped open the package and the box with the soap and took a long deep whiff...

Smells like Blenheim Bouquet, that is to say it's not a light citrusy scent. This is in your face and up your nostrils LEMON!

What a let down. I know it will perform as well as the other soaps in the Harris line, it's just that I never liked Blenheim. Reminds me too much of a certain furniture polish.

I hope the scent settles down with use.

Interesting, that's not what I get. Definitly citrus top notes but I think you'll find when you lather it up that it has a much cleaner fresh pepper and fougere scent once the top notes mellow out.

Why risk it? Just send it my way; I will see that it's disposed of properly...
