In any case, why don't you go ahead and root for Arsenal. It's the best choice.

    Hey Dennard,

I notice that your location mentions 'Britain'. Do you have the luxury and privilege of living over near Highbury?

Liverpool for me. Not too many great expectations for this season but I reckon we will still finish above Spurs.

Gooner here. Really looking forward to the season this year.
RVP has been on his way out for a good long while now. Man U were the only suitor left for him and have way overpaid for him. More worried about Barca trying to turn Song's head at the moment.
In the meantime Arsene Wenger has brought in Podolski, Giroud and Cazorla who are all very exiting players.
Be interested to see who gets the captain's armband, I am thinking Vermalen is most likely.

Looking forward to an early St Tots. day this year.

For van Persie I guess he figures he can win some trophies in the short term.
I think this is the crux of why United have spent £24m on a player they could sign for free in twelve months time. I think Fergie is desperate not to lose out to City again and is prepared to spend a limitless amount of money to ensure they don't - he's not thinking for the long term now, unlike when they spent a fortune to sign a very young Wayne Rooney. RvP is 29 and injury prone, they'll get a season or two out of him.

Dennard. what's your opinion of the front office and Wenger after this trophyless run? The media is trying its best to depict Arsenal fans en masse turning on both. Is that a trend among fans or just sensationalism?

The first team I ever saw play on U.S. TV was Chelsea. My step-daughter's name is Chelsea. I own three club jerseys. Chelsea, Celtics, and New England Revolution. I am not a band wagon Chelsea fan, it's just how it turned out. My mother in-law is from Scotland, thus the Celtics and I was born and raised in New England. That being said I just love soccer/football. I can watch a game in a language I don't understand and be content. I will watch any Premier League team play another. It is quality football to be appreciated by all. The beautiful game.

    This just in!:
Robin Van Persie has failed his medical exam at Old Trafford with a seriously damaged back resulting from carrying an entire Premier League team on his shoulders last season.

  11. Default I've only recently started watching Premier League football

As an American, I didn't grow up playing (much) or watching, um soccer, football, futbol, etc., to the rest of the world. I did watch the end of last year's Premier League season and enjoyed following Manchester City and I watched most all of the European Cup and I enjoyed watching many of the Man City players do well: Nasri, Silva, Bolatelli.

I think I'll follow the season more closely this year. I wouldn't call myself a Manchester City fan yet, but they were an enjoyable squad to watch.

Arsenal it is then! A long time ago, a British friend of mine was a rabid Sheffield Wednesday fan but it looks they have been relegated to the lower league so that is not a choice.

The fans I know are still devoted to the team, even when we don't agree with or like things that are going on. And I'm a fan of the style of play Wenger has instilled. I'm just hoping things will come around for us again soon. And I'm optimistic about the short term.

Come on you Baggies - West Bromwich Albion to the uninitiated. You could have guessed from my nickname.
Looking forward to a nice mid table finish again hopefully. I dont think our whole squad is worth 24 million quid BTW so you won't see us in the top ten.
    Cheers

I enjoy watching Arsenal play but for me they do lack a little bit of muscle through the middle which I think will ulimately stop them from competing at the very top. They really lack a Viera type in midfield, not only to put their foot in but also driving forward.

RvP has had just one great season, I seem to remember him being very injury prone and out for long periods with what seemed minor injuries.

It's an interesting season for Arsenal, also for Spurs who really should have got 3rd last season from where they were.

As with the Baggies fan above, I'll be happy with Villa in mid-table this season. After a season when we had our worst EVER home season it would be nice if they could win a few matches at home this season.

Honestly, I thought that would change when Wenger decided to buy Song. I figured he was going to start adding a little muscle into our mix.

    ...he never quite did...

Sheffield Wednesday were relegeated from the Premier League many years ago now, and haven't yet been able to earn their promotion back into the top flight. But last year they won promotion from League One to put themselves in the Championship which is only one division below the Premiership. Personally, I'd be more inclined to lend my support to Sheffield - the home city of Edwin Jagger, no less - than Arsenal, or better still Tottenham...

It'll be an interesting season for both West Brom and Villa this season. Both, like Spurs, with new managers with something to prove. I'm interested to see how Steve Clarke does with the Baggies in his first managerial role. They were really establishing themselves as a Premier League team, staying well clear of relegation, under Roy Hodgson - it'll be a real shame for them if Clarke can't continue that progress.

For Villa you'd think that, for a club of their size, it can't get much worse than last season. Judging by all that I've seen and read the fans seem delighted to be shot of Alex McLeish. Paul Lambert done a good job with Norwich, wonder how he'll do with Villa!
