Grousmoor is a bit too perfumy and floral for my tastes, that said I do have a pipe dedicated to it as I find it leaves quite an imprint or ghost in the pipe, even after 1 bowl. after several it's haunted and i'll taste grousemoore for several smokes no matter what I run through it (maybe a 1792 or a rope may have enough oomf to overpower it - doubt it tho).
speaking of dedicated pipes, I have quite a few dedicated to my various preferences (a bunch that only smoke Vas, some for only orientals, some for English blends etc..... as for single tobacco dedications, in addition to grousemoor I have a pipe dedicated to 1792, and used to have one for Gold Block, Errendale/Condor, St Bruno and one for the aromatic (but quality blend) Blue Note - but haven't smoked some of those in 10 years + may be time to rededicate them, or find anther blend to smoke in them
I have always been much more of a VA flake (Dark Star, Bob's Chocolate Flake, Full Va Flake, Stonehaven, Stonehenge, Marlin Flake, Hamborger Veermaster, etc etc etc), VA/Perique (Escudo, Limmerick, Dorchester, heck even Haddo's etc) and oriental blend guy these days (Midnight ride, Red Rapperee), with the occasional heavy English (Balkan style) or occasionally a burley -especially when fishing (Barbary Coast,Tribute, templar etc) for a nice nicotine punch.
ooh, nicotine punch, thinking a small pipeful of 1792 may be in order before bed (a dunhill size 2ish) yum!

If you aren't grateful for what you've got, nothing that may be coming down the pike will likely do the trick for you.
The plug is better, more Lakeland scent IMO.

I know you weren't asking me but, I recently had samples of SG Grousemoor Plug and Cannon Plug, Both were very good but I found the Cannon Plug Best, it was smoother with less of an ashy taste late in the bowl, it is described as Honeydew scented but to me it was the same or very similar scenting as the Grousemoor, jmallen5 is totally right about these needing to be smoked slowly to get the full flavor benefit.

Thanks!

Since I am a fan of Ennerdale (and it's more subtle cousin, G&H Rum Flake), I got a tin of Grousemoor on Jason's recommendation. I've been holding on to it, but perhaps it's time to crack 'er open.

It really is all James' fault.
(Okay, maybe Owen had something to do with it as well.)
Well got my Toby in, and they all smell distinctly different to my delight.

you'll have to tell us how they smoke for you.

Bearing the burden of responsibility..... It's probably my fault.
Treat your silver as if it were earthenware and your earthenware as if it were silver - Seneca, Letters of a Stoic
1/4 of the way through a bowl of Grousemoor plug.
My initial impression is that it is on the milder side of the Lakeland scale. The flavor is mild, almost like smoking a pipe ghosted with a more strongly cased Lakeland. I am thinking the plug from C&P may have some age on it, and lost some punch?
That being said it is very enjoyable. I am getting sweet caramel notes, maybe even maple syrup. It's very toasty and delicious.

right on!!! glad you are enjoying it - never smoked the plug, only the ribbon cut blend which is a bit too floral for me. cannon plug on the other hand, yummm. I shave it or cube it and - like everyone has said, smoke slowly - but isn't that the case for all pipe tobaccco? the slower the puffing the better the pleasure/flavor?
