Razor burn!!

I recently bought a muhle R89 that came with a derby blade. Ive shaved with it a 2-3 times already and had razor burn wich iever had shaving with my first DE a weishi (newbie here) with dorco blade. Today ive decided to load my R89 with a dorco blade... No razor burn !! What does that mean ? Does it mean i was applyin yo much pressur with the derby or that i need a better technic with it ? Or is it that some blades or just not madr for some people ??

This is very YMMV, but I've tried derbys in several razors and I only have one thing to say about them. Derby is evil. Then again, I did have some luck with a shavette using derby, but it's the most aggressive type of razor there is as well. They are too inconsistent and too dull and require too much pressure to cut decently in most cases.

I've found that most cases of razor burn, or any irritation, can be attributed to using too much pressure. While angle and technique are also causes, pressure is the biggest culprit. Try using just the weight of the razor and see if that helps.

its 3 things IMO..pressure/prep/blade doesnt like the razor (visa versa)

The big killer from my sampler so far was the Crown SS, my neck looks horrid because of it. The Lord SC were awesome for me though. I I know they say everyone likes different blades. But I'm wondering if for certain people the type of coating matters.

Well i have the same prep that with my weishi. Only difference is the muhle and the derby. Ive switched blade in the muhle today and put the dorco and didnt had any burn.

Dorko 301 are platinum coated.

YMMV. For me, Derby blades were not a good 'fit'. Improved technique w.r.t. razor pressure will help over time regardless of blade.

You sound to be very touchy like me. I posted the other day on the razor forum how I had followed the advice of one chap there and used a Dorco blade in my merkur Bakelite razor, and gotten a shave without nicks from that razor, whereas earlier I'd gotten heaps of nicks from a mildish Gillette Super Thin blade.

While I don't get razor burn from mild blades like Gillette Super Thin and SuperMax Stainles Steel blades in all my other razors, I get razor burn and nicks from sharper Astra SP blades in nearly all my other razors, except for when used in mymildest razor, a Weber DLC (which doesn't work well at all with my milder blades).

So by all means pay attention to your technique, but if you are like me it won't make much difference. You'll just have to use milder blades like Dorco in your razor. or struggle through with your sharper blades for a week, until they settle down and become comfortable for the next two weeks of use (which is heresay for some people here, who through their blades out after a two or three uses).

That said, you haven't said which soap or cream you are using. That makes a difference to razor burn from a razor and blade combination as well.
Alternatively, you can add olive oil to your skin before applying your current cream or soap, and then try the Derby blade. The olive oil ads a degree of cushioning that may help.

I did and never looked back, Derby blades are not so flash IMHO

Absolutely. Razors don't burn; technique burns. But I would suggest other blades such as Astra SP or Personna Reds. Hydrate those hair shafts and consider face lathering. Also map your hair growth direction on your neck and avoid ATG strokes for awhile. You'll get there.
