Default Female newbie to wet shaving!

I have used my husbands profile on here to read the forums over the last year or so and have gotten lots of great information on shaving and vintage de razors. I thought maybe it was time to get my own account since I am into the vintage side of it more than him. I only use the vintage razors whereas he uses the newer ones.

Glad to have you with us! Is your husband a User on here too? Or just a lurker?

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome. I wasn't sure a woman would be very welcome in a shaving forum, but there just doesn't seem to be much out there for women who enjoy the whole wet shaving process.

Vlad, I haven't tried the vintage soaps, but I have bought a few at local flea markets.

NexlevMM, Yes, my husband has an account but mostly just lurks. He reads several articles, but doesn't post on them. We are both still in the learning process and trying to find all the tips and tricks we can.

Welcome! I've been DE shaving for a few months now. I'm one of those rare guys that shaves their legs. I'm a bicyclist and many cyclist shave their legs as it keeps our legs cooler when riding for hours - cooler leg muscles fatigue less - and post ride massage feels much better without hair. Anyway, I have a new Merkur I use on my face, but I use a vintage Gillette Tech on my legs. I agree the vintage razor is way more comfortable. I recently used face shave soap and a brush on my legs and it was way better shaving then shower soap. Good luck with the new hobby!

Thanks again for all welcome messages! I am sure I will have many questions over time.

Artyfukin, My husband uses a new merkur as well, but I use a lady gillette or a lady eversharp. But I always use an Edwin Jagger best badger brush & shave soap, I love the lather I get from it better than the creams. I have several techs I have picked up, but haven't used them yet, wasn't sure how they would be since they were designed with face shaving in mind.

Give the Techs a try...just be careful around the ankles...I have a few nicks to prove I shave :-) Thanks for the tip.
