Default Barbasol Lanolin and Soothing Aloe

Hey guys, does this stuff smell like original Barbasol? I thought it'd be good to get one of these (I love me some Barbasol).

Have no idea what original Barbasol smells like, but I use Barbasol Lanolin occasionally, and it works very well.

I can't describe it but when you know it, you KNOW it. I would just like a can with more skin-friendly properties but not the sensitive skin version (doesn't smell like Barbasol Original to me).

I started shaving in 1954, and canned foams were already popular among safety razor users, although most beginners in 1954 were starting with electrics at the time. I couldn't use those, not then, and not later. My starting weekly shaves were with an SE, using ordinary bar soaps. When I changed to an Injector in 1956, I was using Noxzema shave cream, brushless, but I did buy a tube of Barbasol cream. I cannot recall what it smelled like, at all, sorry.

Most places do not stock the yellow can/lanolin version so it can be pretty tricky to track down. The one place I found that does stock a regular supply is Wegmans. Don't know if you have a Wegmans in your area, but those that do I recommend picking up a can.

Barbasol Lanolin has a slightly different scent which I would place as more of a cheap cologne like scent (haven't used it in about a year though so my memory could be off). I haven't used Soothing Aloe but like one time so I can't comment on that one at all.
Ahead lie many fantastic shaves & AD's...But by appreciating #1, you justify #2!

My local Dollartree and Wal-Mart has the Lanolin version. It smells similar to original Barbasol, not different enough to warrant a hate for it. I might even mix the two. I can't wait to try it! I've heard the green can version can be a bit drying.

The Barbarsol in the Green and the Yellow cans have been great. I used the Green can at my Fathers house since I forgot to pack a shaving brush and I was in a bit of a hurry. My Dad's house has only 1 bath room and when you have 4 adults and 13 year old daughter you can't spend much time in there.

Delta, I am a college student living at home, and it's a similar situation here. Unless it's late at night or early in the morning sometimes it can be difficult.

LOL I had 3 other guys living with me at College so I fully understand. Barbarsol Shave cream and good razor will serve you well.

I definitely use soap, too, but I just need to make sure I time it all right :)

The Barbasol Aloe (green can) has a slightly different scent than the original. The original is sort of barbershop soapy in my opinion while the Aloe has a green clean scent to it, have never seen or tried the Lanolin (yellow can) version as sightings are rare indeed. The Aloe version does set up a fine shave for me and is great if you have any sensitivity or following a shave that was a bit to close.

The lanolin version is nice; I tried it today. Helped with an area that had irritation. Just kept it nice and moisturized and soothed well.
