    Default First shave EJ DE89

    Hi all,
Having recently purchased an edwin jagger de89
I had my first shave with it today and all i can say is wow
Started off with an astra blade , proraso white cream , and an omega badger brush
I think this is a really good razor and shaves excellently
Havent tried the derby extra blades that came with it yet
But may stick with the astra as i am happy with them for now

Sticking with the Astra over the Derby will probably serve you well. The DE89 is a great shaver and an excellent way to start your day!

    +1 to the EJ 89. It'll be a RAD killer....for a while.

That's my razor, too. Only one I own, and I love it. Obviously I cannot compare it to any other, but it has a solid feel, very nice heft. Handsome instrument. I'm sure it will serve you well. Enjoy yourself!

I'm a newbie with the same razor, and just bought 100 of the Astra SP blades as I found them to work really well for me. Definitely preferred them to the Derby blades that came with my EJ DE89.

    Enjoy that lovely razor!

I may put my Super Speed red tip on hold for a bit and pick up my EJ89 again now that I've got my technique down.

EJ89 is such a great razor, makes me wonder why I spend so much money on all these other razors.

    Good choice, Liam.

EJ DE and Astra SP. The perfect combination for me.
    My mileage does vary.

EJ and Astra are great combo. Never understood why they give Derby away with them.

Once you've "nailed" the EJ try shimming it with 2-3 blades to open up the gap and get it a little more aggressive.

Just clip a couple of used blades with a pair of scissors along the blade or cutting edge (take 2-3 mm off) and insert them so that the blade is above them as you tighten down (they'll act like washers on a bolt).

I had a couple of the "high end" adjustables before I tried the EJ89 and they were very good. After I got got an EJ, I sold all the razors that I had purchased previously and now use EJ exclusively. To each his own, but I love the EJs.

I really like the DE89L, but I went back to my HD for the bit more aggressive shave. I love the look and weight of the EJ razor, but I wish it were a tad more aggressive.
