Default Finally tamed the mama bear

I've used mama bear soaps for a while now, but it's always been hit and miss. Some days, the lather was spectacular. Other days, thin and airy.

Ive been tinkering with it and what worked for me today was soaking the puck with a few drops of water in advance, and then loading the brush very heavily. It seems this soap is deceiving in terms of how much product you think you have on the brush when loading. Also, it tends to be a bit thirsty, so plenty of water helped.

I loaded my brush like there's no tomorrow, and bowl lathered. Very nice results. I'm usually very conservative in terms of how much product I use, but this is a soap that works best when used liberally.

I love it when I discover the perfect way to lather a certain product, you can't beat the "aha!" moments in life.

Why fight with a soap so much when there are a ton of good performers out there?

I just used mama bear for the first time a few days ago, the sandalwood vanilla scent. I lathered in much the same way. It created a great lather. I liked how the scent was so strong I was surrounded by it the entire shave. I was so impressed I promptly hit her web site and placed a fairly large order.

I wouldnt say i had to fight it, thats a bit hyperbolic. For me, the scent (bergamot in this case), the performance, and the value and quality ingredients made it worthwhile to spend a little time learning how to lather it.

Now I have another soap in my den that I should be able to enjoy for years to come, instead of just passing it on to the next guy on the BST.
