I got this brush a week ago, and I have mixed feelings about it. I have been using the artificial hair body shop brush and decided to get a new one, for diversity. This one , a muhle bristle brush is what I got.
Now, it gathers more water than the one I used before, and is also bigger, once I put it on my face it seems it would lather my backhead as well :). It loads fine, I used a Cade soap so far, I have a Sandalwood TOBS waiting for its turn.

It lost a couple of hairs each time I shaved, nothing tragic, and it isn't very tough, I expected it to be stiffer. It's also not expensive and gets the work done, but now I'm thinking of a badger brush.

I think I would prefer a smaller one, I use a bowl to lather. No complains, however, and I believe it will serve just right. Just thought to drop a couple of lines about it, maybe someone is looking for one. I will measure it and also post the technical details, didn't have the tools at hand tonight.

The HJM, being a boar, will need a couple of weeks more use before it works as it should. The break-in of a boar is essential to get them working right. You might prefer badger after all of course but one week of use is way too short to judge any boar.

+1 I agree. I own the exact same brush, and it took a few weeks for me to break it in. I really like the brush, and I think the faux tortise-shell handle is exceptionally hansaome.

Don't get me wrong, I like it and I know it improves in time. I'm all experimenting now, and would try a badger as well, but I won't discard this one. I really like the looks :) and as I said, it gets the job done. However, didn't think they're popular around here, glad to find they are.

I'm liking it more and more, I find I'm improving the lathering technique from shave to shave. Now it doesn't seem that big, it covers well and builds nice lather. I used it mostly with soaps, a Cade and TOBS Sandalwood, it works like a charm. Once tried it with cream, it was OK as well. One thing I like in particular is that once I swirl it a little on my face, lather explodes, it's a funny feeling, and the sound makes my day. I build lather in a bowl, not on the face, just for the record :). I will continue sharing any thoughts on it, now I also find it doesn't lose hairs anymore.

IMO the Muhle Boars are underrated, the two I've had broke in quickly, had soft tips after ~5 uses & held enough lather for 3+ passes.
