Some great recommendations here, but I'm curious about smell. I would want something with very little or no scent, so that it doesn't affect my aftershave. I know Nivea products usually don't have a heavy scent, is that the case for the balm? I know, I know, I need to just go to the store and sniff around.

Nivea Replenishing has a light, pleasant scent that diminishes quickly. Nivea Sensitive has essentially no discernable scent IMO. Here is another suggestion for an inexpensive, unscented balm: A 50/50 mix of pure aloe vera gel and witch hazel with maybe a couple drops of glycerine (1-2 drops/oz.) Simple, pure, effective.

I alternate between Neutrogena Triple Protection Lotion (SPF 20) and L'Oreal Comfort Max (SPF 15). Both are good and < $7. Had skin cancer multiple times so I look for ASBs with an SPF rating.

Another vote for Nivea. For me, it is very similar to Proraso Alcohol free balm (old formulation) at about 1/3 of the cost.

Like everyone says, Nivea. Also Real Shaving Co. makes a great balm.

Corn Huskers on the face? Not for me! As so many have suggested, I vote for Nivea. Afta's not bad, but Nivea's better, IMO. I personally use Nivea Sensitive balm in the winter, and Nivea AS (blue flavor) at other times.

LEA makes a balm that's very similar to Nivea and BEA is has heavier balm that I use in the colder months that's quite good.
