I have the cream/soap in the jar but haven't broken it in yet.

The cream in the tube is just fantastic stuff. It has a very slight menthol hint to it over a warm, malt-like body.

The rhubarb ASB is milky in consistency and has a slight vanilla/fruity scent. It's not bad at all. I prefer their other ASB, the hydro-repairing one. Has a more sophisticated scent.

I'm also rediscovering the mango pre/post-shave balm. To me, that is one of the most incredible scents I've come across.

Perhaps the burning of incense that smells like I Colonial was the tipping point for the Protestant reformation?

P.S.- I'll be using it again tomorrow...

Glad you are using it tomorrow, smelly socks and all. You Orthodox guys are always different. I like your churches though...usually architecturally distinctive to go with the eastern scents, even if your higher clergy doesn't value safety razors and shaving cream. As to the Protestants....were they responsible for Speick as a response? Shaving materials are so ecumenical.

I do certainly like this soap.

The performance is excellent, even if it lathers in an unusual manner. The slickness remains during a water only clean up pass.

The scent is certainly not boring.

    OK, so now I'm hooked.

The aroma has either decimated my frontal neocortex and I can no longer register the sickly sweet original aroma, or it has now bloomed into it's full, rich boquet like a fine wine that has been allowed to breath before enjoying.

I'm a big fan of I Colonial as well. Surprisingly I prefer the Rhubarb cream over the Mango soap. The scent is quite similar between the two. I get sort of a sweet chocolatey aroma.

The Rhubarb cream has become one of my top favorites. Wonderful slick cushiony lather with a strong menthol kick. Give this cream a shot if you like the soap and if you are torn between the soap or cream, my recommendation would be to go with the cream which for me creates a thicker and better lather than the soap.

I like the the scent of the cream much more than the soap. It is more floral and less funk. I used the soap the last two days after being forgotten for months. Wow, it performs with the very best. The lather is almost gooey it's so slick and rich.

The AS seems a bit risky at such a high price, but I'd like to try it.

Hey fellas. I know we should stay more on topic of the I Coloniali soap and no intent to hijack from the OP but there are multiple products in this line that overlap yet have their own identity. The soap w/bowl is a constant. Yet the shave cream has two listings at West Coast Shaving. One the rhubarb extract and the other labeled as Delicate. I have also found a product of theirs called Mens Skin Treatment Aftershave. If you think the rhubarb is a touch pricey this stuff goes for $46! I have linked a couple of photos so you can see what I mean. Again, sorry to the OP but there is some confusion these days about exactly what Atkinsons is shipping to the U.S. after a production hiatus or whatever the issue was.

    Cheers, Todd

I think that the Delicate is non lathering... See here. (While there, check their prices too.)
Luis -- not very good at this, so take all I say with a huge grain of salt

Thank you Luis. That eliminates it from my buy list.

    I Colonial soap is outstanding.

It doesn't seem to whip up into creamy, picturesque meringue peaks if that's your thing. But if you are looking for some water loving, slick sliding, thick and rich shave lubrication, this funky smelling (I now really love the scent...) soap kicks most other soaps squarely in the nuggets.

Fantastic soap that comes in a great terracotta bowl.

Maybe you should try honing with it.

I have not tried the soap only the Rhubarb cream but it sounds like the soap will be next on my list.

Love the scent of both the shaving cream and the mango oil soap. Used both today. Loaded some shaving soap onto my Chubby 1 and squeezed some shaving cream into my scuttle.
The lather was fine. The rhubarb shaving cream is one of my favorites.

I Coloniali shave soap is one of my new favorites. Used it this morning and I love everything about it. I read many reviews saying it was tougher to lather, but I had no problem whatsoever.

For me it doesn't build a foamy lather, that looks like it came out of a can, like many other soaps, so folks may be put off by that

I am now ready to cast my verdict.

I Colonial is the best shave soap out there.
