    Very nice haul, my friend.

Makes my latest arrival seem pitiful. I received a few pucks of Mike's Natural and a few samples, rather quickly I might add. The pucks are Orange, Cedarwood & Peppercorn and Lemongrass Eucalyptus (I think). Mike was even kind enough to throw in an extra sample. Mike sure makes it easy to want to reorder his fabulous soaps.

So what I thought was an English Rocket turns out to be an Aristocrat Jr.

    Nice. Cleaned up pretty, too.

Well, slight quality issues on the ARC head notwithstanding, I now have a damn fine shaving head for both of my UFO handles.

DE shaving, and lovin' it, since May 2011.

That's a damn fine shaver. Leaps and bounds above a Super Speed or regular Rocket.

    Pardon the poor image.

My second serious score and first overseas order. Semogue 1305, Semogue 1470, Proraso Sapone Tutte Le Barbe (Green Tub), Proraso Sapone Da Barba In Ciotola (White Tub), Proraso Sapone Da Barba Barbe Dure(Red Tube)! So happy right now!

So I told my father that I was getting into shaving, and I brought up the first time I tried shaving with his DE razor. He now uses an electric razor. But apparently, he still has his old DE! So he told me as long as I never lose it or get rid of it, that I can have it. Oh joy!

It was given to him by my grandmother, who received it from her friend, who's husband used to use it. So it has some years to it. I'll have to learn how to clean this bad boy up...

Hey, so can anyone do the math and figure out how old this might really be?

That's a Gillette Toggle. According to the wiki they were made between 1957, 1958 and 1960. There was a short run of them in 1956 too.

    More from the wiki;
There are 2 versions of the toggle. A 5 dial which was serial numbered and produced during 1956, and a 9 dial which was produced during 1958 (D1) and 1960 (F4)

Nice! This one has a 9 dial, so it's gotta be somewhere between '58 and '60. I'm not gonna lie. I'm feeling kinda good.

I see the RAD force has been strong with you...

You didn't use the GE washer to clean those razors, did you..?

As you should. They are kinda rare.

If you look under the head of the razor there should be a letter and a number, they will tell you the year and quarter it was made in using the chart in the wiki. D is '58 and F is '60.

You should have a look in the safety razor forum for a tutorial on cleaning gold plated razors. It should clean up nicely.

Wow. Remember the time someone gave you a toggle...? No. Awesome, and an heirloom to boot.

D1. Looks like it was made in 1958 then.

Honestly, the fact that it's an heirloom is cool. I never had an heirloom.

    Default Miady Frankenstein

    Great stuff, all.

Today this curiosity arrived on my doorstep. I call it "Milady Frankenstein".

It seems to be an Milady handle from the Old Type era, ca. 1915-18 and with the typical crack. But it came paired with ca. 1935 NEW De Luxe head. Still, there is nothing wrong with having another NEW De Luxe head in reasonable condition: not much gold left, but no bent teeth either. I have a few handles that should work well with it.

Here are pictures of each from Achim, for comparison. The one pictured above has the three NEW patent numbers on the guard plate, and no serial number.

Just got a Milady, too. It's a two-tone: silver and gold one. Very nice.

Is that Milady an English razor, Joe? It looks close to this 1920s set, from Achim's web site:
